I would have to disagree. The public were very interested when the government stopped the winter fuel payment for pensioners. It was because of public opinion that the government did a U turn.
It is different to other benefits as you have to have the qualifying years of NI to get the State Pension.

Well it wasnt the general public, it was the pensioners who were affected. There was never masses of obsession on social media about it like there is for PIP, no Reform campaign and press conferences on it, this made it much easier for the U turn to happen as there wasnt much pressure to keep the WFP changes in place. Just lots of pensioners (who are a massive voting demographic) not happy, so the government did the predictable thing.

All benefits matter to the people who are receiving them. The triple lock gets a lot of bad press just like other benefits.
We should be supporting each other not pointing fingers at one particular group.
