Does anyone know of other young disabled working/studying professionals who are looking for a house/roommate. I am due to finish my masters soon and am looking for adapted accommodation not sure where I would like to be based am currently in York. Ideally, I wanted to know if anyone has been in a similar situation to mine and has found or would like to find a housemate. Living costs are increasing and I am trying to find a way to stay independent, keep costs low and have a social life like anyone else really. Is anyone aware of charities or websites that could help with this?

Hello @NikitaS03 and a warm welcome to the community.
Your enquiry is a new one on me - but I've only been here since December, so that doesn't mean much - but I am sure there will be others here who can relate to your situation. If you can bear with us, somebody should be able to give you a more definitive response soon.
Warmest best wishes to you

Hi @NikitaS03
This might be worth a try:
1) Go to
2) On the dropdown that says "property for sale" select "flatshare" instead
3) In the box that says "search by neighbourhood.." type "wheelchair" (I tried putting "accessible" and "adapted" as alternatives but "wheelchair" was the best search term for finding adapted properties).
Obviously there are other property agents available, this is just the one I am familiar with.
I wonder if the staff Accessible Property Register might be able to offer some advice:

If you have an interest in networking with disabled professionals you could consider becoming a member of the Association of Disabled Professionals:
Best Wishes
