Can a tribunal decision be overturned by the DWP?

i was getting DLA for several years but it was stopped in November 2014 ...i applied for PIP but was turned down so i have gone through all the procedure and was finally awarded PIP by the tribunal that was over five weeks ago ..last week i spent a total of three hours  being put on hold by various departments trying to get an update on my award i finally spoke to the correct department ..i was told my award was being looked at by a senior member of staff and that he would make a final decision within the next two to three weeks which led me to believe that the tribunal ruling could be overturned by the DWP instead of explaining to me that the DWP had the right to appeal.. all very confusing and de stressing.

    Hi Bonnie and welcome

    The DWP have 28 days to ask for a statement of reason from the judge, they then have a further 28 days in which to lodge an appeal which they can only do on an error in law.
    If they have asked for an SoR then you should have been notified
    You can ring the Tribunal clerk and ask if this has been done
    The DWP normally put a tribunal award into patment 5-8 weeks

    Thank you.. after i posted my comments later today i recieved a letter from the tribunals service it states that a new apeal as to take place...because the tribunal had omitted to consider the transisional regulations ( Reg 27 ) unfortunately i do not understand what this means ?.

    You need to get trained advice from CAB or similar asap
