my partner is on contribution based esa (support group) and has been since 2012 when it changed from incapacity benefit,i am a student and only work casual, howewer we have received a letter asking him if he want to claim income related esa as he my be entitled to more money ,however it gives you the option to decline by ticking a reason ie my partner works more than 24 hours a week (which i dont often work that many hours hours its on average 24 for a month) if i have more than 16000 in bank which we dont  - i dont understand why we have been sent this and why cant we stay as we are im afraid if i accept we will be less off and if i decline due to working we may be penalised im confused please can someone advise
