I was moved to UC 3 weeks ago and am finding it an utter nightmare. No payment yet for a further 2 weeks, I have been sanctioned for missing a telephone appointment, as my phone is malfunctioning and having to prioritise to essential items only, I couldn't afford to have it repaired. Contacted my MP about this who requires a copy of the informing email or letter, I was informed in journal of sanction, asked yesterday for email or letter, which they're now refusing to send. I'm 59 years old and suffering from COPD and auto-immune disease, having no income for weeks, had to walk 3 miles to the Jobcentre yesterday or risk a further sanction. My opinion- its a national disgrace when sick people are treated in this manner in 21st century Britain.

Hi Tina
Agreed.
If you're unwell, I would recommend obtaining a sick note from your GP and asking your UC work coach to start the assessment for LCW as soon as possible.
Also consider claiming PIP? https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/personal-independence-payment-pip/pip-self-test
Hope this helps1 -
Hi, can you tell me what LCW is please?

LCW is limited capability for work.

Thank you0

I've spoken to my work coach via journal, currently on fit note, I've been told by her I'll be referred on day 29 of current sickness to attend work capability assessment, is this correct? and is this the only thing I can do?1

Most people have to attend a work capability assessment if you're claiming LCW. They should send you a UC50 form to fill in and return with all your evidence before you attend an assessment. The assessment is to decide your fitness to work and you must attend the assessment.

I'm not sure what complications running a new claim alongside a tribunal appeal will pose. Were you in WRAG before?0
