I got my award letter today after applying for PIP. 0 points for absoltely everything which is a flat out lie.

"You said you have difficulties preparing food, communicating verbally and engaging with other people face to face. You reported no physical restrictions and these were not observed at the assessment"

Maybe because my problems are mental???

"You also had adequate eye contact and were able to establish a rapport"

What an absolute lie!!!!!! I never once looked my assessor in the face (social anxiety makes this hard), I did look up at him when he was typing on the computer but as soon as he turned around I instinctively look away. To say I established a rapport (communicating well?) is another flat out lie, half my answers were one word answers or dunno because I don't know and I Struggle with communicating my problems (social anxiety is a ****)

"I decided you can prepare and cook a simple meal for one person unaided"

I can't cook though ??

"express and understand verbal information unaided and engage with other people unaided"

Strange because I had to call upon my mum to answer some questions because I struggle massively with communicating, which the assessor didn't even entertain and just moved on!

"You reported you can follow directions and know your local area and bus routes" Yes, I can, but because of my anxiety I cannot go out alone so while I am capable of knowing where to go, I don't go out on my own so I always need someone with me.

"You did not appear anxious, agitated or tense at the assessment, no signs of trembling and increased sweating was not apparent"
Speak for yourself.. Idiot!!!!!!! I was constantly heavy breathing and even my mum said to me I looked terrified

"You are also under no current specialist mental health input or care"
Because anti depressants are worthless and do nothing so they have nothing they can do for me?? I'm not taking medication for the sake of it when they do nothing and only cause side effects. Due to my anxiety I also can't go to therapy.....

"I decided you can plan and follow the route of a journey unaided. This is consistent with your medical history."

I posted this question here a few days ago.. Everyone said I should be awarded 12 points as I cannot go out on my own due to severe anxiety. Consistent with my medical history??? IF you actually read it you would see I have never been able to work and have been struggling with this for many years, and my medical history would also show I was under CPN's, Psychiatrists and Nurses which nothing helped so I was referred back to my GP.

I thought people saying assessors lied was an extreme situation, but I See this is not the case. What an absolute joke!!! I have NEVER had trouble with ESA, and during my assessments I actually walk out of them in a panic attack.

I guess I made the mistake of not sending any letters of evidence from my GP, guess I'll be doing that on Monday and appealing this ********.. Raging, not so much that I didn't get it, but more so with the fact he lied about everything.

Hithere sounds like you got the same assessor as me ..the same language is used.
I wouldnt bother sending a doctors letter as its a complete waste of time and money. They just dismiss it because the GP cannot back up the descriptors as we only see them at 10 minute appointments and as your GP doesnt know how the descriptors fit you its ignored! The Dwp insisted i got one cost me £25 and then the dismissed it....disgraceful. isnt it. Ive appealed and waiting for round 3!

My GP does it for free for me and she knows how my disability effects me (communicating, engaging with others, can't go out alone - I mean these things are extremely hard to hide). She wrote me one before for my disability bus pass which has everything I need and argues directly against the descriptors, but that's about 3 years old now so I basically just need a more up to date one to prove I still have the same the problems.

I will also send a copy of what the DWP wrote to me, aswell as what I am sending back to the DWP so she can argue against it aswell (Saying I made eye contact is a laugh.. I struggle to make eye contact with my own bloody mother!)

Also to make me laugh even more, it says I'm not under specialist mental health care.. Maybe because my Psychiatrist referred my care back to my GP, who now wants me to go to therapy but I find that too hard to do due to my anxiety and have noone that will go with me (was also told I'd have to go alone). I can't help it if a bloody psychiatrist gave up.

@PIPQuestions Sorry to read this that you diden't get an award.

I'm afraid your only option is to do an MR and get support from your medical team.

I can also see where this haven't help you. You don't  take or have any prescribed medication or latest evidence to help you.

So looked at it this way where you take no medication or updated evidence sent or shown. What would you think?

Yes they do bend the truth (Lie) in a lot of cases.

The point I'm making is,if people have No input, or Not taking medication I would be on the edge of caution and I do believe that's what they've done to you in the snapshot time you had your assessment.

No im not a fan of theirs either and have heard some sock horrors about their lying in the reports.

I highlighted everything that's wrong with this country from benefits, NHS, UC etc, but now we have to put up with the hate now that is the Tories.

I will be appealing with a letter of my own saying about previous attempts of medication aswell being largely useless. I don't like taking tablets at the best of time I'm sure as hell not going to take ones that do nothing just to keep doctors in a job.

The only thing that helps is alcohol (this also causes major panic attacks too though lol) and diazepam which my GP has refused because I'd probably need to be on them long term

Complaints about the assessor should be addressed in the form of a complaint to the AP and separate from your MR.
The MR needs you to concentrate on how you meet the descriptors with examples of what happened last time you tried the activity and why

Agree totally with CockneyRebel here. I know it's hard not to concentrate on the lies in the report but that won't help you here.

You need to look at the descriptors to see where you think you should score those points and your reasons why. Preparing and cooking food... you won't score any points because you can't cook.

This link may help you have some understanding of the PIP descriptors and what they mean.

I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Did you have any help with filling the form in?   Just to give one example that concerns me.  You say:

' "I decided you can prepare and cook a simple meal for one person unaided"

    I can't cook though ??'

You need give examples of what has gone wrong when you have attempted to cook a simple meal from fresh ingredients.  Just saying that you can't cook doesn't explain why you can't.  Lots of people don't have much in the way of cooking skills, but most could learn if they wanted to.  You have to show that it is your disability that stops you from being able to cook and not just lack of skill.  You can put this in your MR request letter.

No I filled it in myself. Going to places is hard for me.

I don't know how to cook and I've never done it because I know I'll mess it up. Well I cooked in high school but the only thing I remember was cooking a pizza and getting shouted at Infront of the class for doing it wrong which lead to me throwing my pizza at the teacher and walking out the class ? But I stopped going to school in second year high school and was barely there for even longer (maybe once a week).

I struggle to explain everything lol

It appears as if the assessors say the same thing to everybody... that is exactly the same sort of language used in my report.

don’t bother with the Drs note they don’t take them into consideration.

i sent in plenty of medical records and info none was used.

get in touch with a charity that will be able to assist and support you.

i’m sick non stop for 4 days every two weeks and black out and have convulsions meaning i’m totally rely on somebody else to keep me alive.

yet I got zero points and my assessor said that I was capable of cooking a simple meal ?

yes whilst i’m throwing up in the feral posistion on the floor ?

makes you laugh it really does!!

sorry you’ve had to go through this.

It's not even the cooking part it's more the communication / engaging with others and the mobility part.

I can't go out on my own, my social skills are almost non existent and In can't engage with people (no friends, etc) due to severe social anxiety. Even during the assessment I needed help communicating but he didn't seem to care what my.mum had to say and quickly moved on. I guess it didn't matter he already had his lies made up anyways so why bother wasting time on my mum communicating for me ?

Then to top it all off it says my medical history shows none of this or something along those lines ? What a load of ****! My medical history has more than I can even remember . I never even sent them my medical history ? So I don't know why they've said that but they've clearly got the wrong record..

Then there's the saying I kept eye contact?? I literally can't even if I try I always end up looking away , said I wasn't anxious was another lie, I was quite anxious despite my mum being there with me and was breathing somewhat heavily and even shutting my eyes trying calm myself down.

I know where you are coming from I spent years mixing large quantities of alcohol with anti depressants and anti psychotics. With that lot I lived on a different planet. I needed it for the night as I could not sleep and the night always seemed to bring on the bad thoughts and flashbacks.

Only trouble is the alcohol caused me to have acute pancreatitis which then developed into Chronic Pancreatitis. and spent months in hospital wanting to die..

Yup I remember you. I also have pancreatitis but caused by gallstones .

Do you think it's worth mentioning in appeal that I've been on antidepressants and they're worthless and do nothing and that only diazepam and alcohol helped ?  Because it does seem like maybe they don't believe me because I'm not on meds.. even though I think it's pretty obvious as soon as you meet me..

I recorded my assessment however can’t do a great deal about it as it was without the assessors knowledge I scored 4 points, my last assessment I advised I will be recording this assessment she scored me 24
Unfortunately the system is floored and needs to change

Hi I really don't know how to use this forum so I hope I'm replying to the right thing. I thought PIP Questions was a post, only just realised it is someone's username! So I made a comment, goodness knows where that appears. mattw84 said:

I agree things need to change, they see you for one hour-ish and they don't see you as you are normally. I was also told sending additional evidence wasn't needed as they had enough info already, but clearly they don't. I've also been told they ignore your evidence. I also think if you are intelligent and articulate and understand them they actually take that as a sign you're normal.
But im digressing here. Regarding what you have said mattw84 about not being able to do a great deal about it, you can use your recording to make notes afterwards in case you have to appeal.

I just received my award letter and have got 9 points but was not awarded ANY for mixing with others, even though it's clear to anyone in any position of authority that I am a risk to others, and in fact have a probation services risk assessment of Medium risk to self and to the general public, and this has been borne out. I should have scored at least 4 for that and possibly 8 due to risk of harm to other people and past suicide attempts and self harm etc, i am now on antipsychotic meds, and they have acknowledge that I need support to even remember to take these as they have awarded 2 points for that, my belief is they have overlooked the mixing with others activity because giving me points for that would put me into the Enhanced category, and i know people who have had that previously all without exception have now lost that after their most recent f2f!

To be fair I think anyone that takes a claim to the tribunal shouldn’t worry about what the assessment said as I had my tribunal last Tuesday and was only in there 10 mins before being awarded enhanced for both and backdated to last December they really are impartial and really do listen so if you go in there with your points to get across planed out then the chances are your win.

In my my case I didn’t have to speak the Dwp sent the court their own death sentence and immediately the judge and doctor picked holes in what they said
they used my evidence and my mannerisms on the day to see the assessment was incorrect so get the evidence and plan your tribunal get letters and other evidence and you stand the best chance.

I don't know if I'll be able to go to tribunal in person..

I sent away my MR a few days ago. In the assessment they said I had no problems communicating and no physical restrictions were present, I pointed out this twisting of the truth because my problems are mental.

I've also sent letters from GP suspecting autism due to lack of communicational skills and mentioned mental health specialists thinking this aswell. I'm not sure if this is considered proof but it's kinda hard to prove you have communicational problems when the assessor is lying.. but I would think the fact my GP,cpn and psychiatrist suspected Asperger's because of it is a testament to my communication problems

I think I made the mistake of not sending any proof etc with my original application because usually they can see my problems and I have no issues with benefits.. my problems are easier to show in person than on paper but in hindsight this probably made me an easy target to lie about... He probably assumed I'd have no proof to call him out on his lies well you made the wrong choice buddy..
