Hi all, I am looking for some advice please. I have recently had an xray and have been told that I have Arthritis throughout the whole of my spine. I also have a stoop and constant pain in my middle back. My legs are affected with pins and needles and numbness from the knees down. Also told that I have Lesions on both Lungs, but unable to have biopsy as I am not strong enough. Another xray next week to see if it has grown. Would this be considered a Disability. Many thanks.

Hi and welcome,I'm one of the community champions here on scope and i help and advise others. You’re disabled under the Equality Act 2010 if you have a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities. However, the disabled register no longer exists. If you have any further questions please do ask.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
Hi @Vicki100 and welcome to the community. Thank you for your post and for sharing with us.
As previously mentioned, the Equality Act 2010 contains the legal definition of 'disability'. The Citizens Advice website breaks down the legal definition and you can find it here.

Hi @Vicki100 - Welcome to the community from me too. There's a website about arthritis that you may find helpful. See: https://www.versusarthritis.org/Age uk also has some information. See: https://www.ageuk.org.uk/information-advice/health-wellbeing/conditions-illnesses/arthritis/ There's also information on claiming benefits if you're wondering what you might claim if considered disabled. I hope this helps.
