Dear all. I'm in a mess a terrible mess.
My alcohol intake has really increased of late to the point of total obilivion.
ive left my husband as I don't want to hurt him any more.... he doesn't want me to drink
anymore..., and, I really don't blame him.
However, I'm frightened, as to how ill
cope with
withdrawal. Im
scared, alone &
feel
the best thing to
do would be to
take my life... i
think that way, I can't hurt anyone anymore &
the "inner pain" i feel, will
go away?!?!

Hi @Paddie
Although it doesn't feel like it right now you have achieved something by recognising that the levels of alcohol you are consuming aren't good for you. It takes courage to admit that.
Our brains are good at convincing us that recovery will be too hard or that we won't cope with it so why try? It's how addiction affects the mind.
The world will not be better without you! Have you been able to see anybody? Like your G.P.?

Hi @Paddie. I hope Richard's words have been helpful to you, but I'm sorry to read that the struggles you've been having have led you to this frame of mind. If you're having these thoughts of suicide, it's really important to speak to someone who is qualified and able to talk to you about them. Samaritans run a fantastic service which you can access on 116 123 (or through jo@samaritans.org) but there's also SHOUT, a text service that you can get in touch with by texting SHOUT to 85258.
Mind have some great resources for where you can turn when dealing with dependency and some tips on tackling suicidal feelings. Have you tried your local addaction service, Turning Point or Alcohol Change?
It sounds like you could do with some additional support, so I'm also going to email you with an offer to try and find you some local support. If this interests you, please don't hesitate to get back to us.
In the meantime, if you ever feel like you might be a danger to yourself, please call 999 or go to your local hospital.0 -
Also @Paddie, have you spoken to your GP about this? Is there anyone else in terms or family who might be able to offer you support?0
