Hi all,

My name is Serena and I am a Trainee Sport and Exercise Psychologist with the British Psychological Society who provides psychological support to individuals with disabilities (developmental, intellectual, physical). As part of my research study to become an accredited Sport and Exercise Psychologist, I am looking to virtually interview individuals with acquired disabilities that have been discharged from rehabilitation in the last 0-6 months months regarding the facilitators and barriers of engaging in physical activity.

The findings of the study will contribute to creating a community based physical activity program for individuals with acquired disabilities to bridge the gap between discharge from rehabilitation and engaging in long term physical activity.

If you know someone that fits the criteria or have any questions whatsoever regarding the study, please do not hesitate to comment on this post or email me at serenamacleodsportpsych@gmail.com

Kind regards,
Serena

It is good that people are grasping that if exercise is supposed to be essential, daily, for a lifetime, it cannot be something confined to the fit population, with the N.H.S vaguely assumed to send physiotherapists to the rest (!)

(It is one of the things I campaigned for years about, arguing that the provision of public money should be reversed.  First the needy, last the greedy.   Those who can pump iron and kick footballs and run marathons and knock others senseless with their aggressive speedy swimming should be told they can easily keep fit without use of the public purse.    Those who can barely move at all are the most in need of specialists and funded assistance and special dedicated equipment.  Let the fit fend for themselves and the elite athletes fund themselves.  The current system is the wrong way up)
