Esa permitted work.

Hi all,
I started permitted work in 2019 as DWP had made my claim NI credits only after stating my NI contributions had run out and due to my partners earnings they couldn't pay me anything.
However i am now off sick from my permitted work as it all got to much for my conditions. My question is how do i now end this and what happens when i do? Any advise will be most helpful.

    If you're still living with your partner and they are still working then that ESA will remain as credits only. Have you used a benefits calculator to check entitlement to Universal Credit? If not then you should do that. You will need to claim as a couple with your partner and entitlement will be based on your joint circumstances. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/benefits-calculator If your ESA claim remained as credits only and you were in the Support Group then i think you'll be entitled to the LCWRA element from the start of your claim but i'm not 100% sure.

    You can also look at claiming New style ESA but this is based on your NI contributions in the previous 2 tax years. It's not means tested so it doesn't take into consideration a partners earnings or savings/capital. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-employment-and-support-allowance-detailed-guide

    Hi poppy123456.
    Thank you, i have looked into universal credit, partner is self employed so bit of a nightmare. I have just been awarded pip. 
    With the permitted work, i need to inform dwp i have stopped doing this, but haven't as yet as still down as off sick with the company. Do you know how long after i officially stop working i have to inform the dwp esa dept.

    For the ESA as credits only it really makes no difference because you're not receiving any money anyway.
    For UC if your PIP includes the daily living part then your partner can claim carers element of UC if they look after you for at least 35 hours per week. There's no earnings limit with this like there is with carers allowance. As a carer they will not have any work commitments and the minimum income floor will not apply anyway.

    That makes perfect sense regarding esa. 
    Thank you for the information regarding carers element, i was not aware of this. Looked into the carers allowance but as u stated we wasnt entitled due to partners earnings.
