What are the most important factors to consider when buying a used car?
Buying a used car can be a smart financial decision, but it also comes with its own set of challenges. I'm looking to gather insights on what factors are most crucial to consider when making this important purchase. Whether it's mechanical aspects, history reports, price negotiations, or any other elements, what do you believe are the top priorities? Personal experiences and expert tips are highly appreciated!

HP check to make certain that no finance is owed on the vehicle. I would advise if buying private to get a used car history check it may be the best money you've spent as you won't want to be buying someone's else's headache.
If buying from garage they should have done all of the above already.
Good luck and happy motoring.

I'm not saying I'm right but I find that buying a used car is sort of like a 6th sense, you kind of just can suspect when something is wrong, and it takes a bit of willpower to trust that instinct and walk away, not just fall in love with the car regardless
I also think it's quite wise to exercise some quite strict discrimination - a car is not a living thing so it's OK to discriminate and prejudge them … if anything seems suspect, even if it's not been proven true, it usually pays to be a complete fascist and turn down the car because of your suspicion
Basically I'm saying, say no unless you are sure it's a good one. Cars are not like humans - they are not special individuals - if you turn one down, there will be loads of others that are pretty much identical!

I don't like that word being used so casually in any discussion!
