Has there been an update since Labour won the election about whether they propose to continue with the migration to UC - Whether they will continue with it at the same speed or slow it down - just anything. My local MP has not responded. Thanks, Izzy

I find it unfair that people who get new style esa and refugee status do not have to go on UC thats so wrong labour aren't going to do anything thier a letdown

The ORIGINAL delivery date for most legacy benefits migration was 2024/25.

This is not a new date but one that was suspended and is no longer suspended.

UC managed migration was accelerated from May 2024 - 7 years behind schedule.

    technically you’re correct

Honestly I have no clue of the ‘original’ original completion date of uc managed migration (how many times has the uc rollout timetable changed? - it’s honestly too many times to remember)

(And the 2028/2019 timetable which is still the most recent ‘official’ timetable change - as the suspended rollout reversal has yet to be 100% confirmed…….the most up to date official gov uc rollout still has the 2028/29)

but how you describe it as suspended rollout that is no longer suspended - basically the continuous timetable changes does mess up claimants and no ‘official confirmation of the change’ does cause anxiety for some (not knowing for sure when something is going to happen messes with internal prep)

I not disagreeing with your post at all - just posting out that recent silence on rollout timetable is not helpful from labour/dwp

I'm sorry to say it has all been confirmed and is already underway so there should be no doubts about the intended timescale.

Why is it wrong for those claiming New style ESA? It's not means tested so will never be part of UC. People claim this because they were entitled to it because of their NI contributions from working in the 2 tax years prior to their claim starting. It's not means tested like UC is.

Many people that are claiming New style ESA are already claiming UC to top up their income anyway. In this case the ESA is deducted in full from any UC entitlement.

There are some people that are not entitled to UC due to either savings/capital, living with a partner that works or receive other income such as pensions.

@Apple85 I can't find anything more than you have and I have no other information to give. The roll out applies to all of the UK, including N.Ireland.

If I hear anything then of course I will update everyone.

I am still hoping that there will be some sort of legal challenge to the removal of the SDP or at least of them including increasing housing costs as a way of eroding the TP. As it stands with my yearly increase in rent and the loss of the uprating, my TP will be almost halved in the first year and gone by the second. I'm going to be approximately £50 p/week worse off. I just don't know how I manage that, what on earth do I cut to cover that?! I already don't get enough PIP to cover my costs because I have to pay for my car out of my ESA as low rate mobility only pays about half of what I need, then I have to pay the bedroom tax on my home of 16 years that it would severely damage my MH to leave.

I know that someone who has been forced to naturally migrate is still in the process of taking them to court over these losses, Disabilitynewsservice.com reports on it periodically

I have an update on the uc managed migration rollout from my mega post back from July 26th:

According to the official gov rollout site

    https://ucmove.campaign.gov.uk/universal-credit/when-you-need-to-apply-universal-credit/
Uc rollout has started for ALL legacy claimants (the esa only and esa+hb groups have changed from ‘to be announced’ to ‘from September 2024’) - presuming the most up to date Tory rollout plans are still active every legacy claimant will be expecting an uc invite letter anytime between now and sept 2025 - basically a lottery (esp if there is no upcoming benefit freeze as those switching over after the start of the new tax year in April 2025 would be better off (if transactional protection is respected) due to benefit updating)

    IMG_2150.jpeg

however according to the official NI gov site (which should have the same timetable as the rest of the uk and the ucmove.gov site above) they’ve had different updates made to their timetable

    https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/what-move-universal-credit#:~:text=The%20benefits%20system%20is%20changing,to%20Move%20to%20Universal%20Credit.

If you compare the updated timetable to the one I posted back in July there has been some major changes in schedule (the esa only and esa+hb group still say ‘You will be asked to move to Universal Credit at a later date ’ - but there has obviously been massively delays at least in NI as the following groups (hb only, jsa only, jsa+hb, income support only) have had their original rollout dates scrapped and now read ‘You will be asked to move to Universal Credit at a later date’ also. Taxcredits+jsa group and taxcredits+jsa+hb group seemed to have been delayed from an April-July 2024 start to a October 2024 start)

    IMG_2152.jpeg

now it’s possible that ni could have a different uc rollout timetable to the rest of the uk

But when chatting to poppy back in July she thought (and I also believed) that ALL of the uk would have the same rollout timetable

Now both timetables come from reputable official government websites so I’d be surprised if either site made a mistake updating their respective timetable (though the media seems to think all legacy claimants could receive a uc invite at any point)

To summarise I’m not sure if ni has a different rollout timetable to the rest of the uk but it would probably be best for all scope forum readers to keep and eye out and report on the forum when they got a uc invite (and what legacy group they were in)

Yet in the House Of Commons Library it still says 2028/29.

    https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-9984/

The managed migration of claimants of income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) only, or incomed-related ESA and Housing Benefit, has been delayed until 2028/29. This will involve around 600,000 households.

We know that it’s not correct now and it’s definitely from now because there are some people that are already receiving their migration letters that only claim Income Related ESA and housing Benefit. There’s been a few people on here in the last week or so.

I am still very confused about all of this! My main concern now is what happens if you don’t receive your migration letter? Let’s say the post is late or something because I have letters that I know I’ve been sent to me from PIP since March and they still haven’t arrived so my fear is if I don’t receive the migration letter, will they contact you by phone? Does anyone know?

Yes, they'll contact you by phone if you don't respond to the migration letter within a few weeks.

they’ve only just started - when the tories readjusted the uc migration rollout schedule their plan was the remaining legacy claimants would be getting an uc invite letter between sept 2024 - sept 2025 (with full uc rollout completion aimed for dec 2025 by the dwp)

below is from the pdf the dwp stakeholders were sent before the summer and very worth while everyone reading the whole pdf

    https://www.communities-ni.gov.uk/sites/default/files/publications/communities/dfc-move-to-uc-stakeholder-guide.pdf

but below are the pages that should answer your concerns
