Insulting spin imo. I'm sure many people will be very relieved about this but it's hardly a "boost" is it? I notice that across all the Guardian articles about the budget, none of them mention welfare cuts at all. That makes me very nervous.

I'm not on UC and I have no debt. No "boost" for me... Am potentially about to lose Β£5000 a year though. I'm so sick of this lot and I've been voting Labour since 1992. It'll be Green for me in the future, if I'm still here to vote at all.

@Dave1993 is absolutely correct, changes to the WCA and LCWRA is not like the winter fuel payment.

WFA is annual and not protected or wrapped within laws that need changing.

anything in the upcoming white paper and later down the road PIP would require a process through parliament (both houses) and by the time it is law IF it ever is, it'll likely have received Many amendments and delays.

to give you some peace of mind @Meg24 it's taken 10 and 11 years so far respectively to get UC and DLA to PIP to where we are and they are lousing that up royally!

I don't think you need worry anytime soon.

The WCA changes are set to come into force in April as they were set in motion by the last government in response to the white paper that they carried out. There's a legal challenge being heard soon, but there's been no word from Labour that they plan to cancel the change to the WCA, they have announced they will delay PIP changes, but as things stand the WCA changes are still in play.

If they don't change the plan, then it will affect all new claimants from April and all existing claimants by 28/29. If it saves them a ton of money quickly, I would expect them to roll it out faster than that, in other words, get as many of us reassessed as quickly as possible.

It's a catastrophic policy with widespread consequences, so there's hope it can be quashed, but I thought the same about the cancellation of SDP in UC & that's a done deal and has been for a while so my optimism has it's limits.

they said they will change the tory plan to their own version ,so in that case it'll need to start the law process again as That version hasn't been agreed

Can you not use such derogatory and discriminatory language. My concerns are valid and I won't sit quietly in a corner and await my fate "like a good girl"

Seriously how many times do we have to say this.

I think it was just a phase And he didn't mean it thst way. It could have been worded better perhaps however.

do we really have to have this on here all the time, people are leaving because of it. I know it's getting me down.

Hey folks, I've edited the comment to remove the… interesting phrase. Now's a good time to remind people to keep things civil and supportive and to please be careful of your language. Let's not be talking down to people please and let's keep the respect for each other.

@nightcity I think it'd be nice to keep the discussion up, as it could be useful to others? What do you say? Hopefully things can get back on track. 😊
