Sorry, but I don't feel some of your comments in this thread are ending up feeling at all helpful @MissMel . Surely, if we, as disabled people, want respect, we should continue to be respectful to others. I agree fully with @michael57
As regards PIP, then you may be able to claim this whether working or not, & I don't think being a member of a union has the slightest thing to do with this benefit.
Not all people that claim ESA or UC work, whether in full or part time employment. Many of our members claim these benefits because of their inability to work, so I'm confused as to your 'argument.' Many people are also in receipt of both PIP & ESA, or PIP & UC, or PIP, UC & ESAโฆ..

MissMel, as another victim of foul play I very much want to hear more from you and I'm not the only one.
The manager of my job centre told me 8 years ago there was "no such thing as social security".

I think we all know there has been an incredible amount of media speculation recently, & I don't put much credence to any of it. it doesn't matter whether PIP or UC has been mentioned; none of it matters.
I think the 'concept,' if that's the right word, about those on disability benefits being 'scroungers,' has been again due to long past media. There's nothing in what we know about the current govt to suggest this. The current govt rather seems to be thinking of ways to get more people into employment; disabled or not, this comes with it's own challenges.
About disabled people, this rather seems to be looking at those disabled people who can work being helped into employment. There's absolutely nothing that has been said about those disabled people who simply cannot work being somehow forced into employmentโฆ.
I'm sorry for the personal experience you have had, & hope things get resolved. Fortunately most don't have an experience as negative as yours..

please don't turn this thread into another EastEnders omnibus (for a third time) if people don't get on use the ignore feature please.
I've tried keep up loads of useful information and won't be happy it it gets closed.
Many people are leaving and tbh from everything I've seen last fortnight I'm not surprised, unless it's abusive everyone should be able to be themselves and speak their worries without feeling the need to leave the forum or be spoken to like they have an IQ of 8.
as I said earlier in the thread when Albus sorted it out it's getting me down (and probably many others too.
We had another two ding dongs on other thresds yesterday.
anyway back on topic.....

I do not believe anything much written in the media regarding benefits and what they think of claimants but the fact is that since Sunak suggested the ridiculous pip voucher scheme that has been the most benefit focus under threat and Labour have said nothing to quell peoples fears.
Regarding the WCA I was reassessed for that and I remained in the support group.
I never ever had any problem claiming ,esa but pip always fabricated things I said at assessments and I had my award cut down and I had to go to MR so actually I am extremely anxious about the future of pip and any potential changes to my eligibility to claim or receive it, but as I said I cannot and I will not ever work again.
I am far too unwell to engage with a work coach let alone contemplate doing a paid job and therefor if the worst happens I will have no choice but to live off my retirement savings and that will mean I will be destitute in my old age.

I hear that as I said yesterday depending on today if there's anymore ramping up of this work coach interaction I won't be claiming UC for the same reasons.
but either way I certainly won't be worrying about any of it, Halloween is ny favourite day of the year tomorrow and grotbags isn't ruining that for me.

I'm assuming that you are on ESA currently @Nightcity ? If you don't migrate over they stop whatever benefit they want you to migrate from by a certain date ๐
I wouldn't worry about it until we actually hear something official from them. The budget's today isn't it?

yes esa support, thanks it's ok I'm aware of a three month deadline and that when it pases that's it. I would rather just be left alone tbh, I'm not an MP so I'm not obsessed by money and I've seen so much and been through so much I'd survive without it (just)

That's fair! I hate claiming these benefits, they make me feel so anxious and like I'm doing something wrong, if that makes sense? I wish I was well enough to go out and get a job, I wanted to either work with computers (building them), with animals or with disabled people and then my health became worse, so now I'm being cared for by my son. I'm like you, I want to be left alone.
