Speculation about government changes for PIP..
First the pensioners, then the farmers, today we hear of possible nationwide poweroutages and tonight this…
Whilst some things do need a look at with "Pip" the record labour have recently (Tories aint perfect either) tells me this could be brutal cuts.

Ok, they haven't "announced" anything. And its the daily mail so I wouldn't read too much into it.
I have a feeling they are talking about the reductions they have already mentioned they want to bring in and they will do that by targetting younger people etc. But that is just my feeling.
The government couldn't just reduce the amount people on pip get paid even if they wanted to. They would have to go through months of regulations, legislation etc not to mention legal challenges.
It's not something they can just "do". There is a procedure they would have to follow.

There's also an article in The Telegraph today as well regarding this. We're going to see more of these headlines and speculation in the coming weeks from the media. The government hasn't yet said what cuts/changes are going to happen with disability benefits. We'll know in the Spring when we hear from the horses mouth so to speak. It's a worrying time for all of us. For my own sanity I'm going to try my best to switch off from the media/reading newspaper articles etc.

Don't listen to the 'Torygraph' either!

This has terrified me, why can't they stopped sending money abroad on useless net zero products. She has to go.

Another click bait article and people are falling for it,i never read these articles as a rule but out of curiosity I looked at this one.
Firstly they want people to click on these and pay to read them or accept the cookies to show all the advertisements!
There are 2 sentences about PIP etc just to get "YOUR ATTENTION", it then goes on about how the £ has slumped and Rachel Reeves being in china, and MPs being angry saying she should be here and not in china.
People need to stop reading these click bait articles and posting them on here causing anxiety etc to community members who cant see through this nonsense.

Having read the Telegraph and Daily Mail articles I can confirm it is the usual methods of instilling fear into us while causing more stigma and division (they use a small buzz line or word that sounds like their narrative and extrapolate that out into something that barely resembles that line while using "anonymous sourcing" to argue their opinions). The Daily Mail even had the audacity to reference The Telegraph's article!! Other outlets not so much on the right seem to be not pinning down cuts on this one area of welfare spending or not mention cuts at all.
I seriously like the rest of us probably need to stop looking at the news as the outlets will likely ramp up this content in the lead up any announcements in the spring. I would definitely also avoid the Reach PLC owned outlets who seem to be able to make an article from no information at all with a dodgy headline for clicks. If we all could resist clicking on any articles this will help reduce the numbers.
The higher the number of clicks, the more likely this kind of stuff will be published due to their SEO suggesting it is popular and therefore generates revenue for the publisher. The outlets do not care if you read it fully or not, they care that you have clicked on it for their 1p of revenue being paid per click.
The only source we can rely on is direct from the horse's mouth and finding other things to do during the lead up to any announcement is the best thing we can all do for our own health. If anything serious happens I am sure the moderators will inform us all in a more sensitive way than these large media corps would ever dream of.

I get how worrying this sounds, but it’s important to note the article is just guessing. Labour hasn’t announced plans to cut disability benefits. Plus, any changes would have go through consultations and take time, so nothing drastic is happening overnight.

Can I ask pls as labour has so many seats could they push changes to any benefit faster

It doesn't really matter how many seats they have there are lots of procedures that any change would have to go through. And none of it is quick.

The plans havent just changed, they already are planning cuts, that much is very obvious at this point, all of the following have happened.
Liz Kendall, has been ghosting all of her disabled constituents, and also rejecting offers from local press, and local radio to go head to head with a discussion with a disabled person.
Liz Kendall for several months has been posting repeatedly on her twitter, about getting back to work, and her plans. No details, but vague direction. She has also said repeatedly in public years ago she is anti keeping sick people out of work and has a belief its all about personal responsibility, in short she is a tory.
Liz Kendall voted for osborne's cuts without any whip instruction to do so.
The chancellor has already told parliament she will be making cuts to disability type benefits. By law this has to be truthful.
Liz Kendall has been doing private consultations on this.
Liz Kendall recently told the BBC directly she will be making the same savings as planned by the tories on disability benefits. Although not directly confirmed the exact way it will be done.
My view is anyone involved in these private consultations should make it clear any plans to "reduce caseload" are a red line and should refuse to publicly back any reform that does that. No claimant should be treated as collateral damage for any deal made.
I am sorry for those who still refuse to believe Labour will do anything, I dont know what to say on that. But they not saving 3 billion by being pushy on the youth only, and there has been far too many statements and signs to say otherwise. What I will say is I dont think these plans are new, they the same existing plans, and this financial problem, has just provided an excuse to justify them.3 -
It was on BBC Radio 4 as well. Unable to access the Mail or Telegraph. Seen some seriously weird “facts” in at least the mail (IMHO) or at least politically driven presentation. Note all political persuasions can be disabled. The detail of the changes is not there but the drive to cut the welfare budget ( including PIP) is still there. Changes to social care have been kicked well down the road (officially no detail or solutions now) and I can see no notable changes planned for the NHS yet. Everyone knows all are interconnected (eg bed blocking) along with approaches to disability more widely. Many of the changes seem like minor tweaks to the Tory Policy. I just go around on the one waiting list to another waiting list merry-go-round often the result of being referred to staff with inappropriate skill sets due to keep things cheap so wasting more money, requiring welfare payments and keeping me from working (growing the economy) as I want and need. I am not well enough even for back to work support - also underfunded.
My PIP payment was, sadly, used to fund private medical consultation and treatment, mobility scooter and address personal other blocks. The private consultations and treatment have cut out years of waiting lists and given me more control. The NHS treatment I received this week could have been sorted 12 years ago!
Whatever happens we will just have to keep supporting each other and focusing on what we can do for ourselves and our carers.1 -
as a mentally ill useless eater that’s never been able to work in their adult life, who’s just applied for pip as I now require my partner to be my carer (content removed) after being failed by the education system, failed by the NHS, failed by CAMHS as a child (content removed).

When I was told (2 years ago) that I was to receive enhanced PIP - The wording was for an "ongoing period"
How can they possibly change this - legally ?

It's on the GB news site now, I suppose all the news outlets now will run with it untill the government finally make their minds up and tell us their plans officially.
We had all this last year as well !!
2 -
GB news yesterday also said the chancellor will lose her job soon, so hopefully that'll come true !!
3 -
If she even sniffs at picking on the vulnerable she needs to go, I hope she does lose her job, there’s no way she can make that choice after giving XYZ to net zero and sending billions abroad

I had a similar score and and ongoing award five years ago. However, before that I had an indefinite award for DLA. I'd had DLA since the nineties. But they changed it— legally.

I think what people are failing to grasp is they are not talking about reducing the money you get. To do that would take an extremely long time. I still believe they are talking about things like making it harder to get pip, reforms in who is awarded etc, that is the way they will save billions. When they talk about reducing they are talking about reducing the amount of claiments etc
1 -
On GB News, it states that they are looking inti enhanced medical records so I am pretty sure they will change the system to unfortunately make it even harder for new claimants to claim . That said, this is labour so I would advise to wait until the spring and take it from there . I can’t imagine they would just take everyone of if . Hopefully, though, they will be out by the spring. Wouldn’t that be a dream !
