New pip review form

Hi poppy, it was the dwp pip number . They looked it up on their system so they had my information. I knew I hadn’t previously been awarded the 10 year light touch but assumed he meant the form was the short form ( no change form) so the assessment would be quick . I’d originally sent the form back during Covid and they were doing paper based but they kept extending my award until they were doing phone assessments. No matter how much information I provide I always end up with an assessment either face to face or phone. I hope it’s paper based this time as I have the ESA to UC migration this year too .

That's as I thought. This is the reason why you shouldn't rely on the advice they give. The light touch review form (AR2) is even shorter than the 2018 AR1 form. You can see that here
You said in a previous comment that you always give plenty of information when filling out the form but what information is it. If the information isn't relevant to the descriptors then this could be the reason why an assessment is usually needed.
When I fill out review forms for myself and my daughter as her appointee, I always include a couple of recent real world examples of exactly what happened the last time I/she attempted each descriptor that applies. Then I include detailed information of where I was, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were. Both of our last 2 reviews have been paper based, where our forms were not even sent to the health assessment providers.
The forms that were filled in before that, where not as much detail was given (before my knowledge increased) and I had help to fill out the forms we both had assessments.
There's no specific wording you need to use when filling out any forms, just tell it how it is, keep it relevant and don't give your life story because that's too much information.

I usually have someone helping me to fill it out for me and you’re right as I don’t really give examples . It’s just descriptions of what I can and can’t do . Last time though I did include an example of a bad fall I had outside due to my conditions and I actually lost points on mobility which were awarded again at MR. The assessor gave me award for two years which the dwp increased to three. I wanted to ask for a longer award at MR but my advisor said no wait till they make the decision on your MR award . He messed it up and I won the MR myself but by then it was too late to ask for my award to be extended. I definitely think I need to explain my circumstances in more depth but I’ve always relied on law centres and assumed they were filling the form out thoroughly. I think I should write a diary to explain my conditions each day as they fluctuate constantly and it’s difficult explaining that to the assessor. It’s especially difficult regarding the walking distance as I don’t go out much anyway . This year I’ve been mostly in bed .

Just FYI, the Benefits & Work site have published a newsletter item today about the new PIP Review form.
They seem to say that the requirement for more detailed answers other than simply whether there have been any changes fits in with their approach to treat any review the same as an initial claim, but they also point out its shortcomings, i.e. that there isn't enough space to write your answers.
See link:1 -
Thanks for sharing @Asia23
Personally I see it as a good thing that they're asking for more information. It'll save a lot of people from the dreaded "No change" trap. But I do agree it'd be nice if they provided more space to supply answers in more detail.

@Asia23 It doesn’t matter whether the forms are short or long, there’s never enough of space to write everything you need to. There’s a simple answer to this… use extra sheets of paper but make sure to include your name and NI number on everything you send.

I’ve just seen today The daily mail and YouTube are claiming Rachel Reeves is planning on cutting PIP to help clear the debt the country is in . I’m hoping this is fake news though as it doesn’t make sense to me how they are going to go about it . Why would they have brought out the new PIP review form that scope members are saying seems to be a proper form as opposed to the no change form so more decisions can be made in house if they plan on making changes. I assumed the form was a positive for us .

There is already a thread about it and don't believe everything you read until something official is announced.
And they can't just "cut" pip, it doesn't work like that. It would have to go through a lot of stages to even get to that point.

Hi , yes I’ve read the previous posts but this seemed like it was something newly decided. It makes me think are they drip feeding information ready for spring ?

It's the daily fail… oops I mean daily mail. Why are you reading things like that? They are just click bait articles and you should stay away from them.

Hi poppy , I read it after watching a YouTube video about it . Right now I have no faith in labour so nothing would surprise me.

Hello I'm new here so may not be posting this correctly.
I have seen various posts this month (jan 2025) in above thread about the new AR1 PIP Review form
does anyone have any other advice on filling in the new PIP Review form 2024.
The questions are different and provide only a small space to answer rather than the A4 layout to elaborate and give any details as on othe original form.
They don't ask if you have stayed the same or are worse, as was the case with the old PIP Review. There are no examples and the wording seems there to trip you up on to giving as little detail as possible.
Thank you
