No Labour won’t get a second term at this rate - problem is that reform and a kemikaze led Tory party would up the cruelty and privatise the nhs & other dire stuff to boot

Labour need to be persuaded that trying to cater to reforms audience alone is not a great tactic (Tory, reform and Labour are all fighting over the far right voter - and the centralist, moderate and left wing voters have basically been forgotten)

Is it even possible for starmer to have an epiphany, fire the right wing ministers from their positions, change his advisers and change directions to more centralist politics?

I mean I think many Labour backbenchers (and a couple of ministers) realise how things are are rapidly going downhill and if they keep to this current trajectory they won’t last till 2029 without the public backlashing louder for them to go than the unelected sunak

I’ve noticed on twitter disabled ppl understanding the seriousness of the situation and show a willingness to fight the dwp and labour head on - only organisation is missing, a focus point to relay around

It reminds us that when Reeve was in the job that Kendall now has she vowed to make Tory welfare reforms look like child's play, and that Labour MPs have contacted the BBC to say they believe there is gaming in the system, this is where I think Labour and Tories differ.

Labour leadership have an ideology of being strongly anti sickness benefits. It started when they accused the Tories of using it to mask the unemployment figures, carried on with the introduction of ESA, and is now being progressed further again now.
Whilst with the Tories its just they are ideologically obsessed with low taxes and small government, when benefits get in the way of that they attack it, but they do seem to hint at some sympathy now and then, which I have only ever seen from the type of Labour MPs who are getting purged from the party. As a example unless it was Corbyn, I dont think we would have ever seen cost of living payments from a Labour government.

Under Labour, it was planned to reassess as low as every 3 months, and to kick a million of incapacity benefits altogether, I feel people keep needed to be reminded of this.

Nightcity, the rules about who in addition to GP's could issue a 'fit note' - Med 3 Statement of Fitness to work - were changed in 2016 under the Welfare Reform and Work Act. This changed what was permissible under The Medical Evidence regulations.

Conservative Peer's question asking whether there are plans to reform the 'fit note' (again) has been answered correctly but it's not the whole story, as ever.

Just read a bit on sky news about her itv interview, she does say people taking the mickey but in the context of as there always has been in the past people who take the mick, i think most of us know someone, i know i did. I tore a muscle in my spine & had problems walking & other things but was refused dla (going back a bit) a woman i knew who had back problems was out jogging every day & was awarded it & she said it was awarded for her back as she had no other health conditions. The problem is the number of people who take the mick is so small they are tarring us all with the same brush in the name of cost cutting because disabled lives don't matter to those in power

I think she said that being in charge of the DWP is something that she's always wanted to do.

I think she has ideas above her station and she needs reining in. Not everyone who lives on benefits is taking the mickey. She is not a very nice person at all, especially when it comes to disabled people. I bet she responds to residents of her constituency who aren't disabled. People who are disabled, she doesn't give the time of day!

Maybe we should pick our next PM from the current lot?

@WhatThe Over the years, I haven't minded not having the things my peer group takes for granted. I got used to the terrible hurt caused by the loss of career goals and my hopes for a good future. I have always and continue to mind politicians' hate speech and the fear of what is to come to make life harder.
