So it's been stated on the news that people who are unfit to work will have their UC cut but if you go into the category of 'looking for work', your UC will rise.
IIm absolutely disgusted, and due to the stress of this I have vomited through the night and my crohns has flared, I'm just out of hospital after major surgery and I have 4 major surgeries in the next 2 years....the stress is having an enormous impact on all of us .
WHERE THE HECK ARE THE DISABILITY CHARITIES ? THERE SHOULD BE UPROAR AND MAJOR PUSHBACK FROM THEM.....BUT....RADIO SILENCE.
I KNOW THAT JAMES TAYLOR FROM SCOPE HAS GIVEN HIS VIEW, BUT WE NEED MORE.
I NEVER ASKED FOR MY ILLNESSES OR DISABILITIES, BUT LABOUR HAVE OUTRIGHT SAID THEY WILL CUT THE BENEFITS OF THOSE UNABLE TO WORK.
WHY SHOULD WE BE PUNISHED FOR BEING SICK, DISABLED AND VULNERABLE ?
SURELY THIS IS AN EQUALITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUE....
SORRY IM RANTING....JUST SO STRESSED.

To be fair this information was leaked early evening on Friday, it is now Sunday afternoon, I am sure formal responses will start coming out from tomorrow.
Gobsmacked that she admitted no assessment had been carried out, that's court challenge #1 then.

if it wasn’t true surely there would be a denial by now ? Personally I think it was leaked to see what reaction it would get. Either that or someone who is on our side . The no assessment wasn’t that what Ellen Clifford won the judgement on regarding the Tory paper ?

these policies will never make it into law and will be significantly watered down while going through parliement.how can you admit your breaking the law and expect to get these proposals through?i don't think labour thought there would be such a backlash but i think this is only the beginning and the backlash will only intensify.having one of your own mps calling this out is great for us but very bad for labour and fair play to john mcdonnell for standing up for us and thank you.i wouldn't worry about these proposals because even if they try and force it through the courts will overturn them and the government will be having to make millions of back payments to people who are affected.i never thought thought that labour could ever be this bad but sadly this is the worst government that britains ever had the misfortune to see.

I really hope you’re right . Thank you for being positive. It’s blatantly obvious that it’s a money saving exercise which the Tory tried and lost . I think they themselves leaked this information to see if there’s be a backlash. They’ve given themselves a few days to make changes and back down hopefully

Yes Kimmy, I totally agree. I think this week we may start to have some official commentary.....we may even see the 'green paper' this week.
One thing I do know is.....the constant vilification and discrimination of the sick , vulnerable and disabled will continue.
I never asked to be ill......feeling very angry and 'lost' that our pittance will be cut further because we are too unwell to be in employment.
The hatred most of the political class have for the most vulnerable in society knows no bounds.
It's wicked and downright evil.
But I'm not going down without a fight !!!!
They've gone too far this time !!!!

Incompetence Is exactly what it is.
We are all going to have to come together and 'push back' with peaceful marches etc.
Many of us will attend in our wheelchairs etc.
Yes it will be difficult, but we need to unite against this.

I agree , I fell ill an out of work 9 years ago and I'm so sick and tired of the amount off assessments I've had to go over the same thing .
My conditions have only got worse and my last pip review I had the decision maker ask me if there was going to be anymore operations on my legs ? Which I replied to NO , he then told me my award and gave it for another 3 years bur yet they know nothing is going to change , it's mind boggling 🙄

One issue we have is that there doesn't seem to be coordination between disability charities please correct me if I am wrong. Is there a charity out there who is actively trying to stop these cuts?

You're right Loulou, but I agree with what Kimmy said up thread, this was leaked on Friday evening, hopefully we will see charities and officials speaking out this week.
Im personally feeling a bit let down by the disabled charities, i know its a weekend but this is massive and there should have been immediate and severe pushback and criticism from those who have the platform and means to represent us.
Hoping for more official info from the 'clown show' in parliament this week too.

Usually there’d be government opposition speaking out about this but where the disabled are concerned every main party seem united in their dislike of us . The fact labour haven’t spoken out about a possible government leak is strange to me unless they themselves leaked the information IMO

Ok daft question would how kendell, reeves & starmer are & have been talking about the disabled in the press,tv & online be classed as a hate crime? If yes do you think mass reporting would make any difference?

it really feels as though they’re making it up as they go along . Completely unprepared to govern . Fought the Tory while in opposition then steal their ideas that’s the way it looks to me

recent history shows us that things can be challenged in the courts and won.the tories changed dla to pip to make it harder to get and get the number of claims down but descriptors were challenged in court and changed with the dwp having to change the descriptors to make them lawful and back pay millions of people.this happened on at least 3 descriptors so pip numbers didn't go down they went up massively.we also have the most recent judgment on the tories proposals being unlawful and how are labours proposal any different?also they tried to get away with not giving people they're sdp when people were migration managed from esa to uc but lost that too and had to give these people transitional payment protection.the laws have not changed and labour are not above the law and will be held accountable.you've also got the issue of labour supporters who have voted for labour for years,how will they feel that they're party is now unrecognizable from its roots and attacking the most vunerable in society.will this cost them a lot of votes?i would like to think so and labour are running the risk of losing a lot of they're voters just like the tories did in the last general election.

Its so degrading to hear them say that. I started work at about 10 years old selling programmes at the local football club for a packet of crisps a twix & a can of pop. Ive done yts, training programs, worked in offices, shops, pubs, holiday parks, warehouses, security took any job i could get. Then my youngest was born severe learning disabilities & autism with slight CP. Gave up a £23000 per year job as they wouldnt reduce my hours (was doing 50-60 per week) as had 3 kids 3 & under for the pitance they give you on benefits. Was told he would never talk, spent years getting him better only for covid to knock him back. Had every intention to return to work but now my health has gotten worse 10 years ago i could walk miles now i struggle to make it to the bathroom. I have always told my kids its better to work if you can & anyone who thinks your better off on benefits has either a)not worked or b) cheating the system.
I now understand there are people who through no choice of their own will never have a option but to think that everyone is been tarred with the same brush over & over again that we are skivvers, lazy & putting it on, pisses me off.
Benefits system was meant to be a safety net for when things went wrong & to support those in need, now it seems like a noose dragging you down scared of it been stopped or fighting tooth & nail & jumping through rings of fire fighting liars & a system designed to break you.
It makes you question whats gone wrong that everyone bullies the disabled to make themselves feel better. End of rant.
