@Strawberry1
Hi I hope youโre doing well and things are better for you since I was last on.
I had stayed off the forum for a while I just needed a break. Iโm going to iron some clothes as Iโm going away for 4 days on Wednesday. So itโll probably be later on when I get back to you.Take care ๐

Hi @Strawberry1. This is a label that I was given many years ago. I went home and researched what it was?
This didnโt resonate with me at all. The problem with the mental health system is that need to give people labels.I am married and have a stepchild. Social services came to my house because they said that I was a potential risk to the child. Two days later they removed him from the house pending investigations? That made me feel sick inside. The fact that I had spent many years working with children across the spectrum didnโt matter to them. The fact that he was happily living in my family home for two years made no difference in their eyes.
We had to attend Child Protection Meetings which involved a multi disciplinary team. I felt like my whole life was in their hands. I spent endless nights researching childrenโs services procedures. I made an official complaint to the local authority, but they didnโt accept that they were in the wrong. I took my complaint to Stage 2. I was so emphatic that my previous history of mental health issues did not affect my stepchild. At every single meeting, the chairperson would say the same conclusion - I needed a psychological assessment before he could return home. During that period my stepchild was with his birth father. He was not being schooled, had no healthcare provider in the area. He had to share a bed with his father because his father was subletting in a shared flat. This isnโt putting a childโs needs first! I have not been under mental health services for over 3 years, and I have not been on medication for mental illness for longer. Eventually the council relented, stating that changes in written procedures would be made, and paid me a token amount of compensation.
Some people are relieved to finally understand what they are going through and being given a label. Authority figures donโt see you as human anymore. Just someone whoโs emotionally unstable who canโt predict what they might do at any given time if they feel triggered. My case is histrionic, yet any official letter of diagnosis - itโs Top of my List of Illnesses. You can show them that they are wrong by not allowing yourself to react with extreme emotion. Write down the doctors name and ask for a second opinion even if you believe itโs what you have simply because they told you.

Hi ๐ @older01 , I wish non of the things you went through ever happened ๐ข. My heart goes out to you . I really don't know how you coped with all that I know I would have found it extremely difficult. I don't think some of these people know what is actually right they seem to think they do but it doesn't mean they are correct though . Struggling with mental is something that seems to have been with me for like forever. I appreciate you opening up and sharing your experiences. The amount of people who say they have been let down by the services is unbelievable ๐. Your support is appreciated more than you will ever know โค๏ธ. I take into consideration everything you have posted and will keep a note of this conversation ๐. One thing to come out of this is there is strength in numbers. We must continue to work at things and get these people to listen. Please please please take care of yourself and thank you again for sharing ๐.

Hi @Bluebell21 , how did you sleep? How are you today ? Are you having a reasonable morning? Have you any plans for today? I hope you have a good day today. Has it turned cool where you are in the country?

Hello ๐ @Bluebell21 , glad you slept OK ๐. Nice to hear your friend popped around to see you . Precious moments like that get people through. Yet I prefer to be on my own if I'm truly honest. Good luck with getting your jobs done. I think there is a cool patch over the country this next few days . Not ready for winter yet lol . I'm hoping to do a bit of housework myself when I can motivate myself lol ๐ ๐ . I've got a phone call later today from womens aid . I'm staying in today . Hope you have a reasonable day today. Sending kind blessings

@Bluebell21 , unfortunately I cancelled the call with womens aid because I just felt too tired . A poor excuse I know but I was tired and I didn't feel like talking. I hope you have had a good day today. I also hope you have a reasonable evening. Take care of yourself.
