New home

Well, it's finally almost time to move house and stressed is an understatement! Fed up of living in mess, untidyness and too many boxes.Carpets were laid yesterday but can't see them because the painter and decorator has covered them with dust sheets I'm sure they look lovely! Slight panic with the state of the walls but lining paper will hopefully sort that out. Now i know why they put that paper on the walls...3 more nights in my current home before i start the next chapter. Excited and a little nervous and can't wait to get there. Thankfully, the removals will hopefully make Saturday a little easier to deal with.I won't be online as much as normal until i've got there in one piece and i have full internet accesss, which will be sometime on 17th January. So, if anyone wonders where i am, you will know and not panic.2

As you know, I couldn't wish a lovelier person everything you & your daughter hope for in your new, forever home; it will be amazing.2

Poppy, as you count down the last few nights in your current home, I want to wish you all the best on this exciting (if a little stressful) journey. Moving can be a mix of emotions, I genuinely hope the weather is good on moving day for you and all goes smoothly. x1

Nice to hear a happy ending to a home search story:)
I am desperately hoping for one too as the place I am living in is being sold. Since I have hardly been out in the last ten years and my mobility has deteriorated so I can hardly walk this is beyond daunting:(1 -
Not long now! Wishing you the best of luck with your move, Poppy!
Sorry to hear that @bookrabbit, that sounds really tough. Hope things get easier for you soon.1 -
I hope your move goes well and wish you every happiness in your new home.1

Thank you everyone. Another long day but we finally have some heating in the house as the boiler has finally been fixed and it was lovely being there today. My living room is starting to look very nice indeed. Just a few more boxes left to pack and everything is ready for the removals on Saturday.2

Exciting times! Great that you managed to get it carpeted & decorated beforehand. Hopefully you'll manage at least one stressless evening of the last in your old place & then hopefully excitement will make the moving day a breeze. Good luck to you & your daughter & much happiness.

Thank you so much for all the lovely messages of support from everyone. They really do mean a lot.My daughter and myself always split the cost of everything in the home so that did help a lot with all the cost.I thought I’d share this picture, my cat Alfie is definitely ready to go 😂6

Awwww bless him!
I did flooring and decorating before I moved, and got the broadband activated, made life so much easier.
I'm guessing you are at the stage where you feel that the packing will never end, I promise you it will!!

Everytime i think we are almost there, i open my eyes wider and think... ugh. Thankfully, it's almost here and we can move out and start unpacking.I'm thankful this time that we have removals to do all the hard work.0 -
Good luck for tomorrow Poppy, you seem to be organised so that’s great. You’ll be sitting in your new home with your feet up and a cuppa before you know it.Look after yourself as it is a lot you’re dealing with.

Oh Alfie
Best of luck for tomorrow Poppy, I hope the move goes really smoothly for you all. And I'll see you next week once you have internet back. I'm still so excited for you.1 -

I know lol. He did the same when we moved house the last time.Cressida said:Good luck tomorrow Poppy! Once you're in you can take your time unpacking the boxes. Try and keep your cat in for a bit so they don't go wandering too far!0 -
I just wanted to give a quick update before I log off for the night. Today I had my stairlift installed and it's absolutely amazing. It's top of the range and even turns the seat automatically at the top of the stairs so I can get off and the foot rest goes up with a push of the button.
When I viewed the house I was told there was a 6 months waiting list. Less than 4 weeks after moving in It was installed. All funded by the LA.
I can't even remember the last time I actually felt this happy!!5 -
That is brilliant news, what a perfect start to 2024, long may it continue.1

That’s fantastic. How wonderful to be able to get up and down the stairs easily.1
