How is your day going?

I was so angry this morning but have calmed down a bit now. Long story short. A friend has an adult son who still lives with her. She's disabled and a pensioner. And he's vile. Financially and emotionally abusive. Bone idle, won't work, spends all day playing computer games. And has the nerve to call himself her carer ! She called in this morning and was close to tears again. We've been here before many times, eighteen months ago I threatened to report him. Came very close. I believe she has a social worker but I don't know how much the social worker knows about her real home situation.
Anyway this morning. Me and she are sitting in my front room and she rang him to ask something. I told her I wanted to speak to him. And,by jingo, I did! I don't think he liked it very much when someone bit back! Never bothers him when he's screaming at his mother.
If my legs still worked I'd be more than happy to go to their house in person. I'd eat him alive! My friend gets upset whereas something like this makes me angry. And her son is really pushing his luck.
There's only the two of them at home but I've now got her sister's phone number so will give her a ring in a bit. See if she's got any ideas. I've told my friend that if she ever feels in physical danger she's to ring the police.
As I said to my friend, I will work in your best interests. I'll see what her sister comes up with. I don't know if she knows how bad things are
I'm sorry for venting, it's been one of those mornings.

@birdwatcher
Sorry I don’t have much advice or time to type this very well as just about to go for an appointment
But I totally understand as something very very similar happened with my Mum and Brother, the only difference was brother wasn’t a carer for her, more the other way round
Need to go now but just wanted you to know I think you’re not alone3 -
@birdwatcher sounds an awful situation for your friend
@ada it's probably best to get the results so they can do things going forward2 -
I'm definitely agreeing with Beaver and Sandy here @Ada I think it's important you speak to them, even if you don't really want to, which is totally understandable, I hate talking on the phone, but sometimes needs must, plus it'll be over before you know it. Have a think about it anyway, we all like having you around and would like that to continue for many more years.
(And yes, I just call it "My brain going a bit wonky" haha)
That sounds like a horrible situation @birdwatcher but thank you for being a good friend and looking out for them. I'd suggest contacting the local authorities if you feel they're in an unsafe situation with their carer/son.1 -
@ada I can understand why you turned the phone off. For me I don’t use the phone but even with emails and stuff just reading the reply is too much so I avoid it, sometimes. I hope you manage to get things sorted soon, good luck1
-
Hopefully @ada but good on you for being able to have it back on now just to be safe
I took an arty picture of Jenson while on today’s walk, I’m not a great photographer but was pleased with this one and thought I’d share it

Hi guys I'm feeling wobbly and worried after a phone call to my partner from his gp. Gp said he was referring him to a specialist as his iron levels were low consistently and not to worry.
My partner gets really nervous on the phone and didn't tell him I switched him from ferrous sulphate tablets to ferrous gluconate liquid as I thought he couldn't absorb that form of iron. This was last year and anaesthetist in presurgery checks agreed with me.
He stopped taking it unknown to me and iron levels are low again. Gp ordered rightly tests to detect blood and all negative.
I was in loo and didn't get speaking to him so wrote it all down and dropped it to the surgery. Hope he doesn't take it the wrong way but I have a bad feeling and can't stop shaking. Haven't we had enough? Hope gp calls us back. Sorry for long post.0 -
@Marydoll5
Sorry you are having more troubleI think you did everything you could in that situation and hopefully they receive the extra information you gave. I don't know how prescriptions work in Northern Ireland but over here they can change the medicines without even needing to speak so maybe that will happen and you get the right ones when you pick them up??

I had a lot of issues with anemia several years ago @Marydoll5! It really does make you far more tired and lethargic. It sounds like he certainly needs to be taking some kind of iron supplements. The issue is that some iron supplements can have bad side effects with your stomach and bowels, so it's about finding the right one.2

Thanks @66Mustang. We are behind the times here. We have to order by phone then wait 72 hours to collect. The ferrous gluconate brought his iron levels up in 2 weeks but I'm worried that the gp seems to be suggesting an endoscopy and worst case scenario so I thought I'd let him know the gluconate does the trick.
@Ada my partner is like you on the phone too and it's hard to take in information when you're nervous so well done for switching your phone on x2 -
@Jimm_Scope thank you too1

Just got out from the vets
Kept me waiting ages
They are concerned felix swelling not gone down. It's rock hard
Gave him more antibiotics and brenorphine
He needs urgent bloods but they can't squeeze him in until 24 may
Need to check his kidneys first before making any decisions
If bloods OK they will do xray to see what's going on, if it's abcess or cancer or something else
If all OK only then will they remove the tooth
I hope it's not bad news1 -
I hope it's all okay @Amberpearl! It's always a worry when pets are ill I know.
I hope everyone has a good evening though, I'll see you in the morning1 -
@Marydoll5 hopefully he will pick up when back on the meds

Been pottering around the house @ada still doing jobs havnt done anything in the garden as my back is a little sore from yesterday. But watered all the plants flowers.3 -

Hey @Lou67 No doc hasn’t rang. But. 😱 don’t tell me off. I turned my phone off ( I use a very old phone for calls. Even older than this one. )
and Ive kept it off. Until mr gets up. I just wasn’t in the mood for talking.
I struggle with the telephone chats as much as I do with everything.I’m sorry you weren’t able to keep your phone on but it must be hard if you don’t like talking on the it.
But as everyone else has said you’ll have to get they results to be able to deal with it.Would your partner phone tomorrow for you. I just want you to be ok and not hurting anymore than you already do. ❤️2 -
@Marydoll5
Oh no I’m so sorry this has now happened as yous definitely have enough to deal with.
I hope your ok and I really hope things work out for the best for yous. ❤️2 -
@ada I don't find it rude, I think everyone has people they can relate to more and people who they can't relate to as much, it doesn't mean you think anyone is better than anyone else, just that you share more experiences and traits with some people
That's how I feel anyway, I try to help (and get help from) everyone but I think naturally I will b e more helpful towards certain people, but I still view everyone here equally if that makes sense3 -
@Amberpearl really hope your cat is OK after all the tests1
