Aww I’m so sorry about your brother in law that’s tragic and so sad he was no age at all and he was fit it’s such a shame 🥲@Rachel_Scope

Oh @Marydoll5 I'm so sorry to hear that. I really do hate cancer with a fiery passion. If you need anything, we're all here for support.

That's tragic @Marydoll5, sorry to hear that. Cancer can be horrible, because you can do everything "right" but there's still a chance it happens anyway. I'm sorry it has happened so unexpectedly 🙁 Let us know if you need anything? We'll see what we can do.

To be honest I'm really worried about my nephew who is the oldest of the 4 boys. He won a scholarship for adult nursing and has one assignment and 3 weeks left of a gruelling 4 year course. It's through the Belfast Trust and the Open University and he also had his relationship break up when his fiance cheated last year. He has joint custody of his 9 year old daughter and this broke him. His grandad died last year .… my Mr dad and he was really close to him to. How much loss is one person meant to bear?
On a happier note good luck @Rachel_Scope for the scan today x

I'm so sorry to hear that @Marydoll5. Sending you gentle hugs ❤️ That is such a lot for your nephew to deal with. Does he have any mental health support? I'm going through something similar with my father-in-law and I know Macmillan offer counselling to family members. Might be worth looking into. I hope he feels able to finish his course after working so hard for 4 years. He's so close to the finishing line now. I'm sure the Open University will be understanding if he needs more time.
Thank you @Lou67 and @Marydoll5 😊

@Rachel_Scope thank you and the other admins and all my Scopicles. The Belfast trust are really good at offering support and he is going to need it. I'm sorry you are going through the same with your father in law 😔

@Marydoll5 I'm so glad they're supportive of him. Are you looking after yourself too? Thank you, it's all been a shock for us, it just came out of nowhere. Seems like a similar situation to your brother-in-law. We're all here for you so keep talking to us and hopefully we can help 😊

Ive had a DNA breakthrough got a message from a new match. Looking like it's on my real dad's side. And even comes from the town I grew up. I didn't know my real dad. DNA is amazing

We had a very smooth journey thanks @Marydoll5,only one change and we waited less than two minutes for our connection.

Ooh @Sandy_123 are you doing your ancestry? We've been doing our family and we got back to the 1700s!
Glad you had a good journey @Teigr 😊

Yes @Rachel_Scope I've got back to 15th on ancestry the DNA was 23 and me as it was an Xmas gift.

That's amazing @Sandy_123. I bought the DNA kit from Ancestry for my mum and 3 months access. She called me the other day saying she wants to pay for 3 more months 😂 Hope you find some more matches!
1 -
I don't agree with the extra charges to access things when you do a DNA when you already have a paid account. You also are blocked from transfering DNA from site to site and forced to take more tests
1 -
Yeah I know. They like to get your money however they can!

@Sandy_123 I didn't realise that about the DNA kit! I got a free Ancestry trial and paid for the DNA kit. I just checked and its a 3 month subscription. With getting Mabel it's sat in a cupboard for a month so I may dig it out and use it quickly.
Congratulations on getting a connection x

Its a bit crazy really I had nothing to go on except DNA and that never lies it's just a case of the more people that take it the more chances are of finding matches, but I think I struck lucky
