sorry for bringing this post up again, last bit of advice please
After receiving a call from debt collectors on Xmas eve, I sent another complaint email to tw who today confirmed that I am not responsible for the bill and have removed my details from their system
Due to the harassment and 2 bad credit reports can I claim compo from tw ?

Yes, you can seek compensation in this situation, and you can manage the entire process by email if that is more comfortable for you. You should start by filing a formal complaint with Thames Water via email.
You have consistently informed them since last summer that you do not owe this debt. Despite this, they wrongly claimed you were responsible due to their administrative errors. Now that they have confirmed the landlord is responsible, something you had repeatedly pointed out, this should form the basis of your initial complaint.
In your email, make sure to highlight the damage caused to your credit report by their false reporting. Although you have not yet experienced direct financial harm, the damage to your credit rating could affect your ability to obtain credit in the future. Therefore, you should request that these inaccurate reports be removed immediately.
Once the first issue is addressed, you can also raise the second issue in the same email: the distress caused by a debt collection agency contacting you on Christmas Eve regarding a debt you did not owe. This action, carried out at Thames Water’s instruction, was completely inappropriate, causing you significant distress and humiliation for a debt you neither owed nor were responsible for. It should be thoroughly investigated and appropriately addressed.
It may also be helpful to mention in your email that you have mental health challenges and that the stress of this situation has affected you. This may prompt Thames Water to handle your complaint with extra care, including offering alternative ways to support you or extending deadlines if needed.
In your complaint, clearly state that you are seeking compensation for both the emotional distress caused by these actions and the potential long-term impact on your financial well-being due to the damage to your credit report.
If you are not satisfied with Thames Water's response, you can then escalate the matter to the Consumer Council for Water (CCW), the ombudsman for water companies in the UK.
Apples, I am genuinely sorry that you have had to endure this. I truly hope that 2025 is a less stressful year for you, and I would like to wish you a very happy New Year!

@scope is there anyone who can help me write an email to tw requesting them remove the bad file entries from my credit file and seeking compensation?
I rang cab this morning but they wanted confirmation that this issue has affected my mh by me going to the gp, which I never did

Hey @apples unfortunately we'd not be able to help with emails, but it'd be worth you speaking to the lovely folk at our Energy support service, they may be able to offer some ace suggestions.

I am not clear from your post, if Citizens Advice asked for medical evidence from your GP before they could assist you, or if they thought you would need proof in order to file a complaint with Thames Water. I want to assure you that medical evidence is not required to file a complaint with Thames Water.
I see Albus has shared an email address that may assist you in drafting a letter. If they can assist you, before sending it, double-check that your letter clearly states you are filing an official complaint. Request the immediate removal of the false entries Thames Water made on your credit report, and emphasise that you will be seeking compensation for the distress caused by their mistakes, particularly regarding the incorrect debts reported on your credit file and the wrongful transfer of that debt to a collection agency for a debt you neither owed nor were responsible for.

Hi @MW123
I think cab were saying in order for me to claim compensation I need to show that this situation caused me distress, cab told me to email tw and ask for the file entries on my credit report be removed, I explained I am unable to word letters / emails so they make sense, plus I was hoping to put the compensation and removal of file in one email, they said if I can find evidence that this issue caused me distress to call them back
I have contacted the people albus posted so hopefully they can help
Thank you also @MW123 and happy new year to you
