PIP assessment

It makes no difference whether it's a new claim or a review, assessment times are still as I advised above. You can't infer anything from a 20 minute assessment.

I get what you are saying but for a new claim you would think you need more information for the person who is claiming and 20+mins just seem a bit rushed and my mum said he was not giving her time to answer the questions. Like he asked her does she cook and she said no because I do the cooking now but he did not give the opportunity to say it is because she can not cut food up anymore or open tins etc so I just think it was a bit rushed. It just a little disappointing but she will have to do the MR when the letter arrives, hopefully it arrives in the next couple of days so we can get it in before Christmas.

Ok there is still no payment made to my mum so I think even me been positive can see that she not been awarded anything because I doubt it takes a week to send a payment, the first payment I can see not going in yet but the back payments really should have gone in by now. So it is MR, so can she ring up and start the process now or does she have to wait for the letter to come because with mine I was told on the phone that I had not passed and I started the MR straight away with the person I spoke to and the letter comes a few days later. And than I sent all my information and supporting evidence.

You should put the MR request in writing and not ring to request it. By requesting it over the phone how do you know they are typing what you’ve asked them to? They could be typing anything.
She needs to wait for the decision letter.

Ok thanks. I hope the letter turns up soon so she can get her MR in as soon as possible. It just a little disappointing that she now has to go through a MR just because someone did not want to do their job correctly. Some may disagree with that statement but when you are not asking all the questions and not letting someone talk, it is not doing your job correctly.

If it is a negative result, alongside the MR to DWP you can also make a complaint directly to the assessment provider, about the assessor rushing and not giving enough time for answers.

Thanks Kimmy87, I was wondering who we make a complaint to because it was not done in the correct way so it good that my mum can make a complaint, it may no go anywhere but at least she can say she was not happy about not been given the time to answer etc.

Complaints are to be made to the assessment providers. Details how to do that will be on their website.

Thanks Poppy123456, Kimmy87 said to make the complaint after the MR but can my mum make it before than or do we have to wait until we have the MR decision

She can make a complaint at anytime.

Thanks poppy, she said she will wait for the decision letter and make it than. May as well do the complaint at the same time as the MR.

Sorry to be annoying but hopefully Poppy12345 or Kimmy87 or anyone can help, I just read that it said about pip, just because a decision was made one day does not mean a payment was released on that day so basically my mum decision was made on Tuesday 26th but that does mean a payment (back payments) was made on that day, so it could have been made later on in the week so Thursday or Friday and than it takes another 3-5 working days to go into her bank or is this could just been me trying to stay positive and hope she been awards something but my mum given up on any awards been given now but can someone clean this up because most seem to say they got their back payments but not sure if that is after a decision was made and the payment was released at the same time or it happened on different days.

My PIP timeline is here:
Do remember though this is just how it happened for me, everybody's claim is different.

Thanks, I get it may be different but it does seem most people get there back pay with 5 days after decision made and that was up on Monday (Tuesday to Monday is 5 working days) just gone so I think me trying to be positive, now I got to be realistic and acknowledge that my mum going to have to do a MR and make the a complaint about the assessment.

Also my mum did not get the txt, the last txt she got was that they had got her report but no txt saying decision made or awards had been made, she only knew because she rang up last Friday and they told her that a decision had been made and a letter had been sent, they did not say when the letter had been sent but I guess on the tuesday. The only thing that was little odd was that because my mum asked for her report, the woman (PIP) asked her a couple of times if she wanted her report because a letter had already been sent and she would have to pass her over to someone else for them to issue it but not sure why she did that because the report would have more info in it than the letter so for a MR it is a lot more important.

Not everyone receives a text when there's an award.

Oh ok but it seems 99% that she has not been awarded anything as she would have got the back pay by now. Like I said the first full payment I can see not going in for a week or two but it seems like everyone gets their back payments very quickly and it is now over a week and nothing so it more likely she will have to do a MR and make a complaint to assessment provider about the person who did the assessment.

Update, got the letter and it confirmed that she did not get enough points. She only got 6 for living allowance and 4 for mobility allowance. We both are not happy because she only got 2 points for cooking but my mum does not cook, I do the cooking because she can not open or cut stuff up anymore and I check it should have been 4 points at least and give no points for dressing even enough she has to have me or someone help he put her sock, shoes and coats and bag so someone basically helping her they give no points were it should have been 2 points. And mobility my mum uses a walking stick now this minute she walks out the door but they said she can walk more than 50m unaided. Just ridiculous and MR been so low, it is going to take ages to get her awarded anything now.

Based on this I won't get awarded either.

Well I think it was down to the person who did the assessment he was rushing my mum through her assessment and did not let her answer the questions in detail so I think it is more down to him not because she or u should not get award. This is why my mum is going to be making a formal complaint to the assessment provider about him. Please let me no if you do get any award.
