Possible LCWRA changes in 2025?

I've been receiving LCWRA for 2 years now never had a reassessment and I am extremely worried as to what will happen in 2025 and beyond as I can't make heads or tails of what's being said about this.

Will I ever be reassessed and will my lcwra money stop in 2025 I also receive PIP.

Can someone please explain in simple terms what might happen.

At the moment there's no changes because the Government haven't announced anything. Everything you've read is speculation and all we can do is wait.

Thank you for your response, I'm just a bit concerned as to what might happen. Are they reassessing people again as of right now do you know.

HI, I've relieved a letter on my journal saying they are reassessing my lcwra assessment. Not ideal just before Christmas tbh.

If Labour are going by the Tory WCA changes then people already on LCWRA won't face reassessment until 2028/2029 if I remember.

The changes would target new claimants.

Labour have said they'll cut the benefits bill in their "own way" though.

I'll add it surely would go into murky legal waters if they cut the benefits of current LCWRA claimants.

I'm on lcwra and relieved a message on my journal about a reassessment and relieved the forms last week. So they are reassessing

What Jason means @sim123 is that people won't be re-assessed on the new criteria until much later. There are still reassessments being done using the current criteria. The new criteria is not in place yet and was a change decided upon last year by the previous government to come into place in 2025. The new government have decided to keep the change.

I'm afraid not, PIP & LCWRA (UC) are different benefits, administered by different departments. Each have separate criteria and operate independently in terms of assessments.

sim123 Have they asked for bank statements like they do with a Normal UC review or do you just have to fill the forms in again. I had a normal UC review in July and sent off my bank statements then they said there was no change to my UC.

Hey Rob. No statements just another wca form to see if I'm still entitled to lcwra

Reeves and Kendall have both confirmed the WCA will change, these statements are to parliament and by law have to be truthful. Timescale of next spring has also been directly quoted.

FRESH Wca changes will need a consultation first or they'll be in Court.... again

Of course to add to this point, we dont know what changes these will be, Labour are being clever deliberately announcing it as late as possible, so in threads like these everyone just says ahh nothing announced forget about it, and then there will be minimal period of time to challenge the changes prior to being legislated.

I really can't see them being successful in removing the substantial risk criteria, if that is what they plan to try as the Tories said they wanted to. It's so obviously dangerous it will surely fail due to legal challenges, especially given that there is talk of them adopting a statutory duty of care, the two things just don't go together.

My Advice would be not to panic if they announce this, because someone will challenge it before it becomes law.

They have changed/removed descriptions multiple times in the past without much trouble, dont know why it would be any different now.
