Hi, just wondering if anyone else has a disability and kids- mine are primary and secondary school ages. I'd love to connect with people who are in the same position as me. I'm feeling pretty lonely right now!

    Hello @Sophleeds

I'm sorry to hear you are feeling pretty lonely. There is a lot of parents on the community with their own disability and children, so you've come to the right place. Is their any specific support I can help you with, as well as wanting to connect with other parents?

It may also be worth exploring your local offer. This a website that has information on all things disability in the area you live, such as social care information and also information about local support groups for parents and families.

    Hi

I'm an sen parent, ls28. Both boys primary. Oldest struggling in mainstream and ehcp ongoing so are planning on homeschooling. Hoping to find some social groups for him so he can connect/relate to other peers.

    Welcome to the community @laurajm

Glad to hear you are working through an EHCP for support, they should hopefully be able to signpost to some social groups you can access, but you may find exploring your local offer helpful too.

Good luck with the EHCP 😊

    Hi @Syrupie

    Welcome to the community.

I'm Sara one of the Cerebral Palsy Specialists at Scope and part of the CP Network. I also have CP and an adoptive parent to a now adult son. He's 21. It's been a journey navigating parenthood. There have been some challenging times, relying on others for support, but also some amazing moments as well.

He has accepted my disabilities into his world and is actually more empathic towards those who have additional needs.

The CP team host Network meetings on the second Wednesday of each month, which you are welcome to join. Everyone has CP or cares for someone with the condition. The sessions are recorded and you get access to these if you are a member. I understand it's not always easy to attend evening events with a three year old.

I've included the link for you to consider joining CP Network. Please contact our team if you need to talk things through as well.

    Kind regards.

Hi Syrupie, hope you are well. It's a challenge isn't it, the school run wipes me put so I feel a bit isolated in terms of mum friends. Feel free to message me x
