I joined this group because I want to meet people like me who are in similar situations. I am in my early 20s, and my mother had her second stroke in 2013 and has been disabled since. I was 9 when I found her. She is the strongest woman I know. In recent years, things have become really tough for her, both emotionally and physically. How can I help her? Who else knows what I am experiencing?

Hi @Chamberlin and a warm welcome to the community!

It sounds like you have been through a lot with your mother so it is very understandable why you want to connect with other people who understand.

If you are under 25 then you may qualify as a young adult carer.

Has your mother had a needs assessment since things have become really tough? If not, then it is definitely worth contacting your local council for one. It may also be worthwhile looking into carer's assessment for yourself. Both of these assessments will hopefully open doors for more support for you and your mother.

It may be worth exploring your local carers hub. These can often be a good place to start finding support and connecting other people who have a similar experience to you.

We do have lots of people on the community so hopefully some of what you have described will be relatable for other members and they will be able to reach out and offer support soon!

Hope this was helpful, please reach out if you have more questions and would like further support😀
