so surely the amount of pip claimants will rise ?

New PIP claims will be set against the changes (if implemented) immediately, once made law.
Existing PIP claims will be tested against the changes (if implemented) when your next PIP review takes place.
So as I understand it, if you have a 10 year award, any changes won't be applicable to you until the 10 years are up. And only then will you be assessed against the new rules.

Can anyone simply tell me if any changes to UC and LCWRA and PIP please

@luvpink it was a lot to take in all in one go. But I'd say she wasn't aggressive, just trying to show she means business. We'll be posting a (politically neutral) breakdown soon and Holly has kindly created a Green Paper discussion too which we can update as and when.

- People with "severe, life-long conditions with no prospect of improvement" will never need reassessment
As someone who’s disability is life long. I’d welcome this. I wonder if this would stop these claim reviews too.

Applications may rise, but the toughened requirements will mean less will be accepted - and more existing claimants will lose out at their next review.

I'm on contribution based ESA because I worked all my life but became chronically ill and unable to work but sounds like they are going to take that off me. My PIP at the minute is only lower level daily care (because she lied on the report and tribunal treated my like a criminal and wouldn't listen to what my condition is) which is made up of small amounts of low number so I might as well give up now because there is no point to anything anymore.

It's a complete car crash for those on LCWRA with no PIP

I was actually thinking the same thing . It is a bit confusing so not sure if I’m being tricked tbh 😀. The question is what’s their definition of lifelong conditions etc ?

Looks like you'll be protected until 2029/2030, and then they even speak of transitional arrangements potentially being put in place beyond that.

Well I just checked my PIP award and I did get a singular 4 in my daily living, so as long as I get the same score in my next review then I should be fine I think?
I do get CB ESA, so looks like i'm going to be forced over to UC which I'm not happy about.

This is the thing.
my wife has been disabled for 15 years.
WithSPD - permanent Pelvic displacement
Degenerative Disc
Fibromyalgia
Menieres (inner ear imbalance causing falls)
Raynauds - blood flow issues
Joint hyper mobility
Sleep apnoea
Facet arthritis
She can’t walk hardly at all. She has permanent brain fog and is incapable of every day life on an almost 24/7 basis. But she’s still reassessed regularly.
The guy who assessed her for LCWRA even asked if it’s ever getting better. We said NO.0 -
For current LCWRA claimants, the amount will be frozen, meaning there will be no reduction or increase linked to inflation, so the cash amount remains unchanged. However, for new claimants, LCWRA will be reduced by £188 per month.

I'd assume not. Any existing awards that have more than 4 points in a descriptor in the care element definitely shouldn't have to. But Kendall mentioned nothing about those with existing awards without 4 points in a care activity

Trans people, Muslims, EU citizens, sex workers and anyone not white says hi.

Yes exactly right.

I hope so. I'm not really sure why I wasn't assessed for PIP since I have physical conditions that count as disability. Is it because I have mental health issues too?

I'm on Contribution Based ESA (Support Group). It looks like they're going to time limit it.

I was just reading from 2026 new claimants will need to score at least 4 points in one category to qualify for pip what about people who’s pip is up for a reassessment?
