Upcoming changes to benefits

For current LCWRA claimants, the amount will be frozen, meaning there will be no reduction or increase linked to inflation, so the cash amount remains unchanged. However, for new claimants, LCWRA will be reduced by £188 per month.

I'd assume not. Any existing awards that have more than 4 points in a descriptor in the care element definitely shouldn't have to. But Kendall mentioned nothing about those with existing awards without 4 points in a care activity

Trans people, Muslims, EU citizens, sex workers and anyone not white says hi.

Yes exactly right.

I hope so. I'm not really sure why I wasn't assessed for PIP since I have physical conditions that count as disability. Is it because I have mental health issues too?

I'm on Contribution Based ESA (Support Group). It looks like they're going to time limit it.

I was just reading from 2026 new claimants will need to score at least 4 points in one category to qualify for pip what about people who’s pip is up for a reassessment?

I consider mine( ME FIBROMYALGIA) lifelong as there’s no cure or treatment but would they class that as lifelong ? That’s the thing

You have to apply for PIP yourself. Make an appointment with the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) and they'll help you as the forms are insanely complicated.

Will contributory esa (I am in the support group) be merged with JSA? I know Income related ESA was due to be merged with UC

I am currently being migrated to UC with protection. It's due to be finalised on April 5th. Will i still get what I would have been entitled to if this announcement was to have not taken place?

And surely more will claim pip

So if combining esa with jsa then how does that work if people are long term ill? They are on esa for a reason that is they can't work.

No, but those with existing awards that have 4 points in a current care activity already meet the new proposed legislative requirements. Interesting to see if those that don't meet the requirements, will there existing awards be pulled and reviewed... the amount of effort involved in such am exercise would be massive and given that the full welfare reform from Tories isn't fully rolled out I'd be very surprised. Also given the fact that new uc health tops reduced and existing people frozen, I'd assume they will not pull existing awards.

Any mention of Carers Allowance ?

I'm a bit confused at the idea of none of this happening until 2029/2030 because she said UC LCWRA changes will be next April and also for those who have PIP, she said changes in November this year. Can anybody explain?

thanks so much for getting back to me. That's my reading too. What do you think will happen to ESA Contributory Support Group? Is it to be merged with JSA? If so, will I need to be re-assessed for this or given that it is going to be governed by the PIP assessment will this be at award review in 8 years time?

Thanks so much. I’m going to be ok but hoping and praying for others.

I get lcwra element but not pip I have leukaemia which I will have for the rest of my life taking daily chemo tablets so can only hope this would still make me eligible on the next review

I thought there's a new insurance type payment amalgating both CB Esa and Jsa.. so on that regard they shouldn't be moved to UC...??
