Scopes reaction to the green paper.

Today, the Government announced plans for the biggest cuts to disability benefits on record.
These plans will be catastrophic for disabled people. Leaving us unable to afford the essentials, and to cover the extra costs of disability. Nearly half of families living in poverty already include someone who is disabled.
We welcome the investment in tailored, non-compulsory employment support. But ripping £5 billion out of the benefits system by 2030 will completely undermine this positive step.
This is not the end though. Disabled people, allies, charities, and experts are urging the Government to think again. And MPs are starting to listen.
Over 25,000 campaigners have signed our petition against disability benefit cuts.
Nearly 5,000 campaigners have invited 636 MPs to speak to us about why disability benefits are a lifeline. If you haven't already, make sure your MP is one of them.
We’re not backing down. Over the coming weeks, we’ll:
- Explain what these proposed cuts mean for disabled people.
- Empower disabled people to respond to the Government’s consultation on these planned changes.
- Respond to the Government’s benefits consultation, guided by how disabled people have told us cuts would impact their lives.
- Run an event in Parliament to tell MPs about the extra costs disabled people face.
- Continue meeting with MPs to get them to act against cuts.
- Keep up the public pressure to make sure the real impact of cuts on disabled people is not forgotten.
We know this is a worrying time for many of you. We will continue fighting against cuts, and for a disability benefits system that works for disabled people. This is not the end.

Never in my life have I ever expected the Labour party to act worse than the Tories. Di9sability charities/groups and disabled people need to fight this until the end. It`s immoral, unjust and should NEVER be allowed to happen. SHAME on those politicians who vote for and support it

There's some good and some bad. Of course I look at this from an insular view on how it effects me, who in the Earth is going to employ someone with CTPSD and rage issues?
I would love to work again and be independent for the first time in my life but it's going to take a lot of work and time from the DWP and NHS in order to reach that point, there are others on this site who suffer from mental illness primarily and I want to know how they feel about all of this?

claimed for over a decade due to major depressive disorder and general anxiety disorder, I can't express how afraid I am. I'm so very close to breaking, if they do tie the lcwra money to a pip assessment I will not qualify and not only that I will have to deal with the job center again. I barely survived last time and I'm not sure I want to bother trying to survive this time

What I don't think they have discussed is, and it is my situation, people on PIP who do and can work. To me, they can need to have a long and hard think about the name Personal 'Independence' Payment. It doesn't sound us like want us to be! Even though I work, I get daily care as I need help doing the stuff that is outlined on the PIP forms! I don't get mobility because I can walk, but I am extremely wobbly, and could cause an accident, potentially injuring myself and other people!

still not sure what this all means for people still claiming legacy benefits like me. Am I still to wait for the migration letter to UC and will there still be TP. With regards the 4 points in one category, that is deeply unfair to people who are very disabled and score multiple lower points in the daily living categories. I could score as an example 5 lots of 2 points and not get it but someone else could get 1 8 point award and get it. Doesn’t mean they are more disabled overall.

Im not gonna pull punches in this post ,
I'm in the same boat ,3 points in one category for daily living and a few 2's here and there.
Highest mobility.
I will lose £300.00 per month.
Meaning I will no longer be able to get out EVER as i'll have to give the pip car back in order to be able to eat and continue to survive.
And all it will be is pure survival....simply existing.
Any independence i manage to claw out of my already highly limited and depressing life will be gone.
They love to pull the rug out from under people, to remind them we are always dependant and at their mercy
I'm afraid that I do believe it's all by design.
There will be so, so many deaths on their hands IF these proposals do indeed go ahead, and i dread to think how many are out there who are already contemplating the unthinkable due to the unrelenting stress and worry because of this hideous behaviour.
they of course, know this.
They (i cant even call them human beings)are nothing more than despicable ,cruel, evil.

In my opinion there is an argument that points spread out is evidence of a wider ranging disability (more extreme), so my opinion is that one 4 point descriptor is not necessarily more severe of a problem than two separate 2 point descriptors, the government says it that way as they are trying to sell the policy.

Yes the migration isnt changed.

Just watched Kendall on Sky News with Beth Rigby. She knows 'she' can save £5bn, but does not know how many people will be negatively affected by her 'savings'.
How can she possibly know one without knowing the other?

I'm not gonna lie in don't think I'll sleep tonight for worrying i don't understand what these changes are or if they will affect me I'm currently waiting for my letter of entitlement from pip I think I have been awarded again as I have a critical illness (blood cancer) but does this mean they can award it then take it away again?
Thanks

Pretty sure I read today that one of them, kendell or reeves has a disabled daughter who's on pip?
What's the betting she's never had to spend 2 or more years being put through rigourous court tribunals and relentless dehumanising assements..

Thanyou Albus
I did write to my MP a few weeks ago but got no reply so he's obviously one of the MPs that agrees with this disastrous plan on the green paper !

At this point there is also a chance of them being overwhelmed, mcdonnell never replied to me.

Unbelievable the anxiety they have caused the most vulnerable of society 😕 they will never win another election if they go ahead with this

I don’t know if this is a silly question, but is there a way any of the proposed changes can be legally challenged?
