The fear and anxiety they have caused to the most vulnerable of the country is atrocious. Shame to them. I hope as one mentioned before this legislation will not pass absolutely outrageous.

It will be interesting to hear if anything is said about it today on PMQT

You write that you don't get the mobility component of PIP. If your gait is wobbly and leads to accidents you are entitled to the mobility component because you cannot walk safely.

That's what I said to myself this morning - Labour won't get in again if this goes through. It's on the front page of the Metro today - the backlash is gaining momentum

Do you mean This is by far not over?

Hopefully they'll see it that way this time. I have three witness statements to back that up too. That wasn't the case last time - I was still wobbly - but it's got worse.

I had a sleepless night last night.. And a crappy day today.. I've not had an anxiety/panic attack for months… And it was a really beautiful day…
My inttial thoughts.. Statistically (I ran some numbers through an AI).. They will need to cut around 30 quid of ALL DWP benefits to reach the 2030 target & based on all DWP claimants for 2023) although that's VERY simplified. And time/process /people etc doesn't work like that..
Politically, its an easy option for political parties more or less run by bribes (err sorry donations) & the RW press rather than tackle ACTUAL threats to the country like Wealth Inequality, the Climate Crisis and the Utility companies .
All that said, it's still uncertain as to how fast Labour will implement/bring on changes. The 'trickle feeding' hints/tips, and delays' to the press is another classic Tory tactic.. I think one commentator described the method as drops of blood into a shark tank.. A little here, a little there.. To get the press hungry.. Especially the RW press.
However I did watch a funny vid on the 2016 proposed cuts (tagged Scope on FB social media) but here's the link if your on FB..

I don't think we'll ever be in a state in the UK that adopts the 'Nordic Method' Higher taxes at 45% that pay for good public services.. We've gone too far down the rabbit hole for that. They have the best public transport, healthcare, very little housing shortage.. etc.. And a more positive mindset .
Actually I really want to delete my FB account now.. DWP's proposed AI banking checks, will most likely be used not only for banks but Meta etc..
Like most disabled people. I would LOVE to have the health and energy to work, in a meaningful, fulfilling job, even from home.
I didn't vote Labour, I'll never vote Tory..

Anushka reported on ITV last night that the changes to PIP could mean 1.2 million being excluded from this in future. Here is her news story:
https://www.itv.com/news/2025-03-18/epilepsy-sufferer-says-welfare-cuts-an-attack-on-disabled-people
I fail to see how this would help get disabled back into work. PIP is not an out-of-work benefit. It is used by many to enable them to keep working. How is taking this away going to help?!
In total, Labour thinks slashing welfare will give them an extra £5 billion. If they taxed the extremely wealthy more fairly instead, it could give them an extra £24 billion. Here is what Oxfam says:
We are already living in poverty, hand to mouth reliant on food banks and cold homes to get by. Time for Labour to inject some real morality into their policies, instead of taking the easy way out, playing populist politics + attacking the most vulnerable, yet again.
And we need to get this message across to them: STOP ATTACKING US, TAX THE RICH

Im horrified at this - planned cuts rather than fair taxation.
I didnt vote at the last election. Ill probs vote green next one. I was a labour member til starmer, then left in disgust. I knew he was a liar and feel vindicated that he has shown himself to be a despotic 'leader'...

Also - this redefines what being a carer is; it seems these new definitions/descriptors change what is care and what isnt.
Watch though - tbeyre going for SEND next...
Philipson said parents need to "think differently" about SEND education...oh god!

You could ask for a phone call as a reasonable adjustment with a supporting letter from your Doctor or MH worker if you have one.

From what I can tell the new 2026 assessments is going to be where they aim to make the £6bn savings. They will aim at those with mental health conditions on LCWRA. They have not given any us criteria about the new assessment except for the 4 points descriptor category. If the new assessment stay the same as it is now with no addition descriptors for mental health. This will be illegal. I hope disability charities, unions, MPs fight this at the top level. Welfare state was created after ww2 for soldiers with physical and mental problems. It is illegal. We need to get the very best people to fight this. I hope they stand up put a stop to this. Something has to be done. It is not fair.

This means we would focus any health-related financial support in UC on those with long-term conditions and disabilities that have lasted for 3 months and are expected to last for at least a further 9 months. We are considering how any change of this kind could affect individuals who currently meet limited capability for work and work-related activity (LCWRA) criteria due to non-functional special circumstances; for example, those affected by cancer treatment, people with short term conditions that get better, women with a high-risk pregnancy and those currently classed as having substantial risk. Individuals in these categories may not be eligible for PIP, and therefore the UC health element, in the reformed system.
Can someone explain this would it mean if your are at risk to yourself and others would you qualify for the health element if you don't get pip that's how I understand it.

I'm not for either party, but the Tories wanted far more harsher cuts

Whoever gets in next time, will do the same, if not worse! Did you hear what Helen Whately said!
