I just saw a bit of the news and Labour's falling way behind in the opinion polls already.
They had a focus group from Grimsby where they won a landslide victory and now 5 out if 6 said they'll never vote Labour again.
I'm not an expert at all but I reckon it's well and truly the end for Labour for decades now.
They might claw some support back if they pull the plug on these outrageous proposals. People are going to have breakdowns and certain diseases will be made worse by all this anxiety. They're bringing the country back to the Victorian times if this comes in. 😠

While my mind is not in a great position to deal with this right now..
I want to thank Scope for their work, and teaming up with other charities.. Including the National Kidney Federation & Kidney Care UK..
Benefits & Work - another great charity - runs with this.. And I'm in agreement, its a bogus, DWP PR press & voter pleasing exercise, doing nothing to actually consult..
https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/dwp-launches-entirely-bogus-green-paper-consultation
"The DWP has launched an entirely bogus consultation on changes to personal independence payment (PIP) and universal credit (UC) by refusing to consult on almost everything that matters most to claimants."
I'm trying not to, but I've already had 2 nights of nightmares.. Triggered I'm sure in part by the news, as well as a build up of ongoing stuff..4 -
@Middleton , thanks for your comments . Yes , I just read it after reading your post . She has got a strong opinion .Is she your conservative MP?

What's insane is that Liz Kendall said to Andrew Marr on LBC Radio, that "PIP was never set up to deal with people with mental health issues", yet they want to assess people with mental health issues on PIP.
You can google and listen to her saying the above.

No. That's not true, im afraid.
The Tories' planned cuts were 3 billions, and they were abolishing reassessments for the current claimants on LCWRA, neither were they cutting any benefits to anyone. Check it out.
Keir Starmer's Labour is evil beyond belief.
I usually vote Labour, except last GE, when I voted the Greens for the sake of not voting Keir Starmer's Labour, as I saw the writing on the wall through his dishonesty and lies. And I got it right. Didn't I?

Ditto I'm one of the many now considering that my demise and death is now the only way out.
They have gone too far with things and the sticking plaster one rule for all is the answer.
Jesus I couldn't get now to a ruddy job centre with my condition never mind them expecting me to do 9 to 5.
So what else can I do? Except to research and plan my own death and that there agencies will be left to face the consequences of it.
It is a third world country now... disabled tossed on the streets left to rot with begging bowls. So this is how it's become.
I'm suspicious they are not telling the British people how bad the country is in. But utter joke to toss disabled people on the streets but can find billions to fund a war in Ukraine that is none of our business.
Just hoping next few days there will be some light out of the end of this tunnel for me or do mean it considering my time here has gone. My health is bad enough to deal with but THIS has just put the biggest insult to me that there is no hope to carry on. Sick of battling struggling and fighting in my life to survive just to have the rug pulled.

Possibly, sadly I have already been advised I cant be a plaintiff for the 4 points, as I have a 4 point descriptor, but what I want to challenge is the consultation that was done for PIP, I still havent found a way to contact the people who did the WCA challenge.

Your right I actually got used ti tories plans can this be legally challenged do we have any hope

Of course this evil changes can be challenged, but I wonder by whom, as Keir Starmer's club is full of bootlickers and newbies who care about their posts and perks more than anything else.
Remember, when the Tories proposed to abolish the WCA make PIP the single assessment for everything, Labour were all furious.
K. Starmer, R. Reeves, and L. Kendall are selfish evils.

I'm really sorry to read you have been made to feel like this.
You won't be the only one.
I personally feel alot of what they are doing is pure fear mongering and that in itself serves a purpose.(many purposes)
I believe that they are using lots of old tricks with all their proposals.
For example potentially giving people the absolute worst case scenario and then backtracking to some degree on some things, so that everyone breathes a sigh of relief at the changes not being so bad ,and aquiesces,
A bit like the way the way they hike fuel costs up for a while then drop it down again, but never dropping it back down to where it was before.
That way everyone thinks they've got a good deal but actually they're still being shafted.
They seem to enjoy playing these kinds of games with real people's lives especially the ones that can't fight back.
I hope you can manage to stay strong.x

@Passerby , I strongly believe that if the disabled community (us) comes together in a powerful coalition with disability rights charities and organisations such as Scope, Disability Rights UK, Benefits and Work, Trussell Trust, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Age UK, RNIB, Stroke Association, and many more….
we can challenge and hold the Labour government accountable for its unjust policies toward disabled people and build a powerful disability movement to overturn this government.
What’s happening now is nothing short of a war against us, the disabled community. It is an attack on our only Armoury: our rights, our dignity, and our survival-something we cannot and should not tolerate.

You're right. United people is power. It has overthrown deep-rooted dictatorships that no amount of guns and wars have succeeded.
1 -
Absolutely @Passerby, I wish we could all rise together and become a united force(like the transformers)to stand up for our rights and dignity.
pThis isn’t something that can be tackled alone.Have a great day!🤝

AbsolAbsolutely terrified as way it reads is everyone on LCWRA is declared fit for work as they axe the group renaming it making it solely accessible via pip assessment

They will throw me among many off LCWRA by denying our disabilities by altering the test? Well that's me killing myself then

I agree, but how can we know the Tories won't bring in more Draconian measures? I recall Rishi Sunak was the one pushing for welfare reforms not a while back. The only positives about the Green paper is the fact that disabled people on benefits will be permitted to try work without fear of losing their benefits. That is a good thing especially for people like myself, who have had a mental health condition spanning decades, and are scared about outside prospects in life. However, I am also full time carer to my (schizophrenia) mum so I can't see myself working anytime soon.

Hi @Sofia123,
When I spoke about wanting this government to be overthrown by the power of the disabled community, I wasn’t implying that the Tories should return to office. My point was that this government’s approach toward disabled people is deeply harmful, and the only way to stop it is to ensure they never hold power again.
Since Labour took office in July 2024, they have done nothing but instill fear in disabled people like you and me. Their rhetoric and drastic proposals to cut welfare benefits are not just irrational but fundamentally immoral.
While I respect your perspective that Labour’s reforms appear to allow disabled people to try working without losing benefits, the reality is much more concerning. The plan to abolish the Work Capability Assessment (WCA) by 2028 will remove LCW and LCWRA protections, meaning that many disabled people who do not qualify for PIP under the stricter four-point daily living criteria will be left without any financial support at all. It’s a calculated move Labour presents it as an opportunity for disabled people to try work, but in reality, many won’t have a safety net if working becomes unsustainable.
Not everyone will qualify for PIP under these new rules, and even those who currently receive it might not under the revised criteria. This means that only those who secure PIP will be eligible for the Universal Credit health element—everyone else will be left with nothing. The impact on both physical and mental health will be severe, and I completely empathise with those, like yourself, who are already struggling.
Having worked tirelessly before becoming disabled, I understand how valuable the opportunity to work can be. But true reform should empower disabled people with real choices, not force them into a catch-22 where they either work or starve. Labour’s so-called “reforms” are nothing more than a strategic way to cut costs at the expense of disabled people’s survival.
There are many more reasons why I believe this government needs to be held accountable, but I hope this explains my stance.
Take care.3 -
" to allow disabled people to try working without losing benefits.2
Make no mistake, this won't happen, as their extremely strict assessment would only allow benefits for very seriously disabled or ill people who won't be able to carry out any type of job.
