Hi, my name is Annabel

Not been a good day for me today, I'm so worried about the proposed benefit cuts. I have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and osteoarthritis. I get standard daily living but didn't score 4 points in one area so I'm likely going to lose my pip allowance. I was given a 10 year ongoing award last November with a light touch review when that comes to an end. Will the government now bring reviews forward of people in my situation so they can stop their pip award rather than waiting until their review was actually due?

I wouldn't have thought so Annabell i am in a similar position,i have chronic arthritis, which means it will last longer than a year,8yrs and counting so far.Its in all my leg joints including in the achillies where the tendon meets the bone, worst pain ever, also in lower back, both hands, nerve issue in lower back, not slept through the night more than a month in total of the 8 yrs,all with substantial evidence sent in,plus still recording new evidence. From what i gather if its a long term medical problem you have that wont get better you wont be reassessed, further down the line cant remember the date but if you receive PIP then the new health element will be automatically added, the down side for new applicants is that they will be looked at like a murder inquiry to successfully qualify for PIP,if they do then the UC Health element is automatic.
I fear for the new genuine people who have serious issues that cant improve, they will have to go through getting sicker before they can apply again which is not what PIP or any sickness benefit is about. What has shocked me is you knew that 100% the Conservatives would of done this and probably more, you'd never think that Labour would follow there lead,it seems they want to cripple the crippled.

Thankyou, you're really going through it but took the time to reply.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed, life is difficult enough already for us all, without the added worry of whether we're going to be much worse off aswell 🙄

Hi @Annabellucy bless you, you're not alone in feeling this way. It might be worth taking a look at a discussion where a lot of our members are coming together to share their concerns/questions, and support one another. This is called - The Green Paper Discussion
We'd prefer to keep the conversations regarding this all in one place, so as to protect the mental health of all on the community, so we will be closing this discussion. I hope you understand. 🙂
