Stephen Timms has been parroting since end last week that people shouldn't worry because the proposals won't come into effect before Nov. 2026 and that it'll take a long time to assess all PIP claimants, etc., to fool people.
It doesn't matter how soon they would come into effect or how long it would take to assess all the current PIP claimants as long as these would happen sooner or later.

Stephen Timms is right about one thing, it will take a very, very, long time, to reassess everyone particularly, as they have a major staff shortage. Unless, that has now changed over night. One thing that wont be changing in regard to this circus of a situation is that, all dissabilities wont disspaer because of these deluded ideas being spun past months. And, neither will the ability of employers business models to accomadate the risk of hiring disabled people. Their insurance liability policies would sky rocket. Just saying.

To become an independent and counter their own former party in particular, they need a massive local support built upon popularity and admiration, and even with such a massive support, it's not guaranteed that they could win against the candidate of their former party alone. Remember, it required moving earth for J. Corbyn to keep his seat. Many MPs are not known or even live within their constituencies, leave alone being popular and admired. In addition, people tend to vote a party rather than for a person.

I for one haven't claimed PIP to date due to the stress and fear that it would inflict upon me while going through the process, which can even take a year, from the day you call them to ask them for the form all the way to receiving a decision. I can't afford stressing me out for such an extended period of time for such a miserable amount of money, albeit helpful.
I've been contemplating to claim it since 2023, but have been getting put off each time I even wanted to read throughout a PIP sample form which I've downloaded onto my computer.
Finally, it seems to me that I've no choice but claim it before the damn proposals come into force - God forbid.

Hi passerby ,
I found my first claim horrendous but it had just gone over to pip from DLA. IMO and that of a benefit advisor it’s not as bad now . For one thing there are phone assessments which help . My last assessor was nice though I was still on my guard. I’m hoping this time if I give as much information as possible I get a paper based assessment. I would definitely apply for pip , it’s worth getting over with and getting in the system now . Not all outcomes are bad and I was told I was particularly unlucky. Others I know were fine .

I know how you feel because it is stressful and degrading.

I wrote four extra pages of typed stuff explaining how my disabilities affect me because there isn't enough room om the form.
We are literally fighting for our very survival and the way I see it is if assessors and the d.w.p ignore or try to twist the evidence we send in the chances are that we will win at tribunal because they will look at ALL of the evidence including our carer's testimonies and our own testimonies.
The only real experts in our conditions and how our lives are affected by them is US individuals who live with them day in, day out.
Stay strong people and good luck.

I'm going to claim it finally.
Thanks for your advice. I appreciate it.

You're absolutely right, it's stressful and degrading, and I hate both, like everyone else.

Can I answer all questions that do not require ticking but long answers on separate sheets by typing them, of course numbering them accordingly?
Will I've to answer all descriptors, or only those which I think apply to me?

Good luck and stay strong. You deserve it x

That's what I do. I write up all the answers in a Word document, giving question number and activity. On each page I give my name, DOB and NI number, along with Page number.
If you think a descriptor doesn't apply to you, write about it anyway. If it really doesn't apply to you, just state I have no issues with this activity.0 -
Thank you very much.
I know there's also an online application form, but I've just checked again on Gov.uk, and it said: "We are not taking online claims for people in your postcode area."

Thank you.
