Ive put everything in what the review lady asked so its just a waiting game now to see what happens even though she said review is complete and no change obviously this is going to get checked over about savings etc so im guessing i just need to check my journal daily to see what happens i hope they dont stop my money but im guessing it depends on what they say about not declaring savings account and the. I need to explain about not understanding this unspent I think the worst case they will 100% stop my benefits or suspended them if they investigate which i got told on a reddit site by people its apparently happened to im just scared if they come back with i owe 8k as my working out back to 2022 is really adding up on unspent then add my savings account money im not good at maths but adding it all up wow j must if been loaded but that's 100% not the case at all ive got under 3k in my savings account and on friday i had 55 pounds in my normal account I just never knew about any of this they might save im not that dumb but mental health is what takes over everything im trying to get my bank statements as my online bank will only let me do it from 2024 so ive doesn't off for paper ones not sure how long ir will take again I didnt understand how this all worked I was 19 at the time so it was basically money in my account I didnt spend loads as I had no bills as such so obviously its built up I hate this so much the not knowing what will happen now xxxx

    Yes.

Tbh it doesn't always go through another £250 barrier, so isn't essential to declare it every month. But by the time I've logged in to each of my banking apps to get the balance on that day, I feel I might as well just put it into UC anyway.

So far nothing has happened except a change made to the deduction on the statements each time. Obviously if it hasn't gone through another £250 barrier then the deduction stays the same as the previous month.

I am expecting some very big bills next month (4 figure sum) and I strongly suspect that will trigger a review or a request for bank statements from UC. But I will just have to wait and see what happens.

(Sophie - this reply is specifically for letitbe. You do not need to put your own savings in every month as they are below £6000.)

do you update savings even if I’d doesn’t go through to the next £250 barrier ?
If they want my to go into the JCP every month with statements when my capital increases I just won’t be able to handle it. I really thought you just had to update your savings in UC and they’d make all necessary adjustments, I really didn’t think that when we updated we have to go into JC with statements.
Will you be able to go into the JC with statements if they ask you ?

Yes, I update mine every month even if it hasn't gone through another £250. But there is no need for anyone else to do that. By the time I've opened all of the accounts, it's no quicker to write it on paper and add it all up myself than to put it into UC and let the journal do the calculation. Also means I can't get make an error in the calculation, and they can never say I didn't declare savings for any month.

UC have never asked for bank statements. All that happens is the deduction on the UC statement changes. I'm almost certain that no-one at UC even looks at mine. The first time I put savings in I asked them to disregard the COL's, but there was no reply and no COL disregard. The next time I removed the COL's before entering the amount, and told them I'd done that in the journal, and also didn't receive a response to that one either.

There is absolutely no way that I could get to a Job Centre now. (Or at any time in the past 5 years). If they want statements, I'm happy to upload them to the journal. If they demand to see them in person then we will be at an impasse…

ok thanks . Hopefully it’ll all be ok . I don’t think I’d be able to go in every month and would probably just rather close my UC account. Can you just close your account if you get UC LCWRA ?

Yes, anyone can choose to close their UC account at any time.
