Yesterday I took my twin daughters to Hospital for a routine physio appt and was blind sided with a Cerebral Palsy diagnosis for Rosie it now makes sense why she can’t walk. My wife is away with the Army so wasn’t there is person. We are now waiting to go back for more physio and hopefully some sort of walker. Can anyone recommend a book about CP as I know very little.

    Hi @Rosies_Dad

Welcome to the community. I'm Sara and part of the CP Network.

Receiving a cerebral palsy diagnosis for your child can be overwhelming, especially if your wife is away with work and you are processing the news alone.

if someone could recommend a book that explains CP what should and more importantly shouldn’t be done that would be a great help. 🙂

    Hi @Rosies_Dad

Cerebral palsy is a condition that affects muscle control and movement. It affects about one in every 400 children in the UK.

It is usually caused by an injury to the brain before, during or after birth, but there may be no obvious single reason.

The CP Network have a great parenting resource that explains all aspects of cerebral palsy and I could send you a copy of this if you would like. Please email us at cpnetwork@scope.og.uk

I can send you links to some great Facebook pages where other parents and carers support each other. I'm mindful of not wanting to overwhelm you.

    Manny thanks.
