Yesterday was Playday which is the UK’s annual celebration of the importance of play in children and young people’s lives. This year’s theme focused on the need for better quality play spaces that support happiness, health and belonging.
It’s so important there is more accessible, inclusive and welcoming spaces where all children and young people can play freely and feel part of their communities!!
Every child and young person deserves access to play spaces that..
- Are physically and socially accessible, safe and welcoming.
- Are designed with inclusion in mind
- Offer play opportunities in schools, childcare settings, youth centres and public spaces that meet a wide range of access needs.
- Encourage fun, friendship, connection to nature, physical activity and a strong sense of belonging.
Did you celebrate Playday with your children yesterday? What does a good inclusive play space look like to you?
