Research Interview

Hi everyone,

I am an undergraduate student at Manchester Metropolitan University, and I am currently working on my final year Fashion Enterprise Project titled "The Open Seam."

My research is focused on a gap I’ve identified in the market: the lack of high-end, artisanal resort wear that is also adaptive and accessible. I want to understand how "invisible" functional features (like magnetic closures or adjustable hems) can be integrated into luxury clothing without compromising on style or dignity.

I am looking to chat with:

  • Women aged 30–60 based in the UK.
  • Individuals with lived experience of adaptive clothing needs (this could be mobility-related, dexterity challenges, or sensory requirements).
  • Anyone who has an interest in holiday/resort wear or artisanal craftsmanship.

What would it involve?

  • A 20–30 minute relaxed conversation via Microsoft Teams at a time that suits you.
  • The session will be audio-recorded (only with your consent) and fully anonymized for my academic report.
  • There is no "specialist" knowledge required, I just want to hear about your personal experiences and frustrations when shopping for premium fashion.

How to get involved: If you’d be interested in helping me with this study, please reply to this thread or send me a private message, and I can send over the full Participant Information Sheet with more details.

Alternatively, you can reach me at my university email: aditi.thiruvasakamani@stu.mmu.ac.uk

Thank you so much for considering this!

Best regards,

Aditi Thiruvasakamani
