@MarieBarl ... thanks. It's whatever the viewer sees I have designed a couple of jewellery pieces for someone but for legal reasons I no longer own the intellectual property so can't post them
Love the PBN ... a real art form in itself. Beautiful. I've used MDF architrave to make frames in the past, £3 for 2.8m from my local builders merchant, already primed too
@Pandapaws ... thank you Your support for my work is appreciated.
@Danikins ... great piece. As PandaPaws says, a retro look to it, coupled with Pop Art

I'm trying to get myself back into drawing. When I worked as a nanny, the kids and I would sit and draw for hours, do all sorts of crafty things and when they were asleep I would often do pictures for their playrooms.
I don't know about anyone else, but my best drawing comes when I've got a physical reference point; I find my brain turns to complete mush when it comes to drawing from memory, so I guess my next steps are to draw from memory, to explore different types of media and generally improve my skills - I'd love to be able to do realism! Oh and not to mention work on my colouring technique
I've been working on these two pictures this week

Pandapaws said:Hi @CATP welcome to this lovely art group. Are you able to post actual pics of your art rather than a link ? It may just only happen to me but Sadly links don’t always work for me 🙁hi @Pandapaws thankyou for the welcome! i dont mind doing it at all -i get the same affect as you as well more often than not,im not sure if its because of server software like cloudflare breaking the link or links that include someones cookie session and its expired by the time you/i/we click on it.-ill use that function from now on ,i always thought the 'built in uploader/image adding function' on forums have a habit of breaking the forum tables and making the forum look a right mess if you use a especialy big image (like 1000x1000) -ive ran certin forum software before where it never automaticaly shrunk oversized images,i later found out you have to add PHP coding to the software to make it do that.thankyou also to everyone for the welcome.@Pandapaws your creation looks incredible, i love the detail in the hair, and the cats, are you into game modding?, STRAY was one that comes to my mind (because of the extremly indepth adventures you have as a realistic cat).lots of people fight over skins on there, some people sell them and some people give them away. and then you get one person who was fed up at cats getting fussed over so he changed the cat to a dog,lol.0

Hi @CountryMimi your drawings are great. It took me 3 years to get to where I am now. If these are your first time in a while it’s a fantastic start0

Mmm food for much more thought! Thank you.0 -
@CountryMimi I love those. I had Rugrats Print Artist for making pictures, letter paper and birthday cards for my friends' kids. The green dinosaur character was very popular with them! Nicely done.0

This was my very first effort at gluing the canvas to a board backing instead of framing. I had not realised how much better it was to stretch the canvas over a proper frame. I cannot remember if I have posted it before.
It was a real learning piece. The brushes were not awful exactly, but I do have better ones now. The paint was old and had not been stored well, some colours were very dry and not enough of them so I tried matching them or thinning them, a couple of the numbered areas were not clear on the canvas or the reference print and I had absolutely no idea how to plan what I was doing or how to set everything ip so that it was stable to work on. Oh and the coloured image of the complete picture was about an inch wide!
It was such fun, though. I finally gave it a coat of varnish and it is now on my wall to remind me of how much I have learned and improved.

This is excellent @MarieBarl and the fact it's a learning piece for you must make it all the the more satisfying!1

@Grinchy @Sandy_123 @Alex_Scope @Pandapaws
I just do the donkey work. They are fun though and stop me dwelling on injustices.
I now have one where the 'paints got lost' halfway through. That might be a challenge!1 -
so i thought i would take you through the creation of a lifesize bust, this time the werecat from Michael Jacksons Thriller, first up the rough clay sculpture
then after a few more hours the finished clay sculpture
then after that a two part plaster mould is made of the sculpture
then liquid rubber is brushed in dried with a hairdryer and the mould is clamped together and filled with a two part liquid that turns into soft foam when it cures
then the mould is separated and the rubber head removed
then i paint the bust with a mix of acrylic paints, and add acrylic teeth to it
then i add the hair working in layers from the neck up, individual hairs are inserted one at a time as it nears the hairline
then the hair is cut and styled, nearly there
finished bust, around 30 hours of work all together6 -
Cheers @Sandy_123, yeah it was a decent project, glad you like him0
-
Hey @Pandapaws thanks, it was a great commission, really love mj, and the making of thriller growing up got me hooked on special effects makeup and props, by the way only the hairline was added one at a time, not the whole head, it looks better like the hairs are growing out of the skin, the rest of it is hand laid in layers1

Another great piece @MarieBarl - really can't tell it's PBN ... very pop art
It's a real honour to view your work @grinchy . The level of detail in your clay sculptures is impressive, but the finished piece - just WOW
