@GLASSBACK. Wow! That’s amazing! You’ve captured the character of his face so well! Did you use pastels?1

@Sandy_123. Thanks so much! Hope you’re keeping well0

@GLASSBACK I’m the same with doing my art, sometimes I just can’t be arsed! Just don’t have the inspiration either at times. It’s just best to do it when we can want to really.Lovely art of your daughter too.
I think it’s nice to see art of people who aren’t fit and pretty, or looking perfect because that doesn’t reflect real life to me. You see so much of this on social media where everyone is looking perfect etc, and that you shouldn’t have any grey hairs or it’s bad to be getting old! Or you have to have the perfect body etc blah, blah blah 😂🤣
we’re all unique and beautiful in our own way! The media shouldn’t say this is how we’re supposed to look etc.
Apologies for my little rant!1 -
Here are some photos that I took when I was able to get out. Am loving where we live now as have so much nature on our doorstep.

Most artists & crafter's are also very judgemental of their own work, but I'm sure that most would agree that it's the creating a piece that gives an artist the most pleasure, and of course every new piece adds to ones own learning even if we've been doing art throughout our lives... I've been a relatively successful glass-working artist for 35+ plus years for example, and yet I can see mistakes & errors in my work that perhaps others do not, or may overlook. There's always room for improvement, but that is part of the enjoyment as well.GLASSBACK said:@WelshBlue 👋 hi
I read your comment on how badly you say you are at Drawing!!
There is a technique used by many people in the same boat as you my friend!
Its called “Trace down “
Google it or watch YouTube videos? Then the rest is down to your Artistic impression or freedom? In Pastel painting, the secret is building up the layers and depth of colours. If you make a mistake? You just use special Erasers. Those portraits I have shown. Take hours of work and blending etc… I just do how much I can sit for and then take a break until I want to go back into it etc… I would highly recommend you watch YouTube videos. That’s how I started … You will make mistakes and you will fail ! BUT, that is how you learn! Don’t try to be Leonardo with your first artwork! Learn it step by step. It is very very rewarding! 🫶🙏🫶

@GLASSBACK ... I know mate, my trouble is getting my brain to do what my eyes see. With a digital canvas I find it so much easier. Maybe it's the way I'm wired. Plus the confidence to make mistakes ... still ingrained growing up, that every mistake was punctuated with a punch. The head is a wonderful and terrifying thing. I will give pastels and watercolours a try one day though ...
Awesome new images of yours though. Especially love the tribal one. That could hang in any gallery
@Pandapaws ... great shots. Sheep. Every self respecting Welshman likes sheep ...
@Roddy ... that is truly brilliant. Is that etching or polishing/grinding (whatever the term) ? Stunning work.
I would agree that I'm never happy with my work, and I've always made it just for me ... if others like it, bonus. If not as long as I've learnt something/ a better way to convey onto canvas. Win
This image was to see if I could turn my lil' girl into something more priceless than she already is ... and to try a different style and technique. (The eyes were a fail IMO)

Thank You @WelshBlue
... I was really an independent glass-blower by trade, but now I only produce small-sized carved-glass panels (in the Art Deco style) which I then turn into Luminaires (see above. The lamp base is about 11ins long)I like your 3d image of your Daughter. It's style reminds me of marble sculpture when of course it's almost impossible to replicate eyes. Not even the greatest masters could achieve it. Anyway, "less" is often "more" and you've certainly managed to create a wonderful facial expression.2 -
That’s gorgeous @WelshBlue1

Thank You @Pandapaws ... I'm still working on this set of 3Pandapaws said:@Roddy WOW! That’s truly stunning

Glad you like it @Teddybear12 ... I'll try to add some more when I can. I always enjoy seeing other peoples work on here as well. :Teddybear12 said:You have an amazing talent. Very beautiful @Roddy2 -
This is my biggest problem. @GLASSBACK. As a dyslexic it just not user friendly by this I mean unlike most platforms you can reply directly to each share/post. But I have to search and find the pieces of wonderful art. This makes it is so complicated for me lol. Wish they would make it easier. It stops me from using the site.GLASSBACK said:Oh dear!My apologies 🤦♂️I’m new to this site and still trying to figure it out?? Such as who and how to reply to certain people??🙏🤯🙏1 -
I really struggle with it as well.0

@Roddy ... you are a true craftsman. Talented beyond words.
Thanks everyone about the kind words about my daughter image.
I realised I hadn't made anything new for months ... a weekend play and 'Dragons Eye' was born. A concept jewellery piece.

@WelshBlue that’s a beautiful piece. I bet even Daenerys would love it too, with her being the Queen of dragons2
