Hey lovelies, as you can tell by my username, my name is Zach and I am 21! I am new to this so I  don’t know what to put , but it would be lush to get to know you all!xx

    @steve51 , yes! I have cerebral palsy, hydrocelphus, epilepsy and I’m partially sighted/registered blind , in my spare time I’m a wheelchair basketball player! What about you?

    Hi @TheNamesZach

    Yes I have had my left hand side taken by the first Stroke this includes my eye & ear and much more.

    Then the 2nd bout has affected my right side leaving me with chronic pain 24/7.

    So I no longer have a “Good Side”

    Hi @TheNamesZach -  I'd like to add my welcome to the community too, Zach. Many of us here on Scope have various problems, but we also have much in common such as neurological problems, chronic pain, etc.
    I have a genetic disorder (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) but knew nothing about this for a long time. It affects my mobility + I also have neurological issues which in a few are associated with this.
    After I qualified as a physio, I worked on a spinal injuries unit. I tried wheelchair table tennis, but was often resoundingly beaten by a tetraplegic who had his table tennis bat strapped to his hand. I also tried wheelchair basketball, where I was even worse. Would like to say my admiration for doing the latter; it's way harder than it looks!
    As far as tips go about using this site, you can always chat here. Also should you wish, you can also make a new post by clicking on 'New discussion' close to the top of this page on the right. Other than that there are links at the top of the page to our virtual 'Coffee lounge' for a light-hearted chat, & also to 'Recent discussions,' both of which you are most welcome to join in with. Hope this helps, & you find this community helpful. :)

    Hi @chiarieds Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful story and I fully admire you for the role you do as a physio! I found with certain disability sports that you’re better at some of them then others, for me, I can’t imagine me playing wheelchair tennis any time soon! Haha!! 
    I’ve never actually heard of wheelchair table tennis though, is strapping the bat to his arm legal in that sport? I guess it was if it wasn’t fully able to function itself!

    Don’t worry my friend.

    Yes I have only got one specialist left now.

    I had to have major  stomach reconstruction a few years ago now.

    They have made a channel from my belly button in to my bladder.

    Due to the nerve damage in my bladder  I need to empty it manually.

    Unfortunately I need to have more surgery as the channel has become blocked.

    How are things going this morning?????

    I'm not too bad thank you, I much prefer the weekdays as I find the weekends quite boring now!

    @Ami2301 ah yes I get you! There’s not many weekend days is there! Plus in a normal situation , the shops are normally either packed or shut lol!

    Hi @steve51 sorry for not replying sooner! I hope that after your next set of surgeries , that will be the last of them, in terms of my days , there’s not really much I do at the moment , but I do have several travelling plans around the UK planned out , hopefully!

    Yes I am still waiting for my stomach opp as Covid has put it back.

    This isn’t a problem though as my body is not very keen with it at all.

    Where are you planning to go traveling if you don’t mind me asking???

    I admire your achievements as I am also a wheelchair user and partially blind, I really need to find some way to exercise to keep the weight off, I have never been very sporty or into exercise though
