Morning, how's your day going so far?

I think I might have to try and gently suggest it for whatever the next celebration is in the future...
Out of curiosity have you ever tried Foie Gras? Is it similar in taste to that? It just occurred to me that I have had goose in that respect, only once, without knowing how it was produced. Although I wouldn't have it again knowing what I do now, it was one of the nicest things I have ever eaten.1 -
I've never tried Foie Gras no, like you I don't plan to have it knowing about it.
I can fully understand it must be incredibly tasty. No harm in finding it tasty, that is the purpose after all, but yeah... the way they're treated puts me off it.
But, goose is still incredibly tasty, still wonderfully juicy. I believe Foie Gras is specifically the liver? Which accumulates a lot of fat naturally (especially if the animal has consumed more fat than it should as it's made to do with foie geas).2 -
We were debating goose this year and only 2 people favoured it2

@Jimm_Scope I believe there is a modern alternative called Foie Royale which is said to be ethical as the animals aren't force fed but don't know much about it. I vaguely remember reading their food may have additives put in to make the animals want to stuff themselves but might be completely wrong there. It's more expensive but I think at that end of the market if someone could pay for foie gras then they can probably afford a bit more for the better welfare!
I haven't tried it though and can't really afford to so am unsure how it compares to the traditional product. (I had foie gras in another country where it was significantly cheaper than the UK.)1 -
It's been so long since I bought a turkey I'm not sure on the price of it. I do know (because I looked) that some supermarkets do goose for £60-80 for 5kg bird. So if someone can tell me what that is like compared to a turkey. You have to pre-order it though for collection.1
-
We get ours from M&S so probably bit more expensive than most (a relative always kindly pays for the meat as a sort of tradition). and it's approx. £20 per kilo so that doesn't sound much different in comparison!
That said we do get a turkey crown and not a full bird these days which is perhaps more expensive as there are no innards or other waste bits.1 -

OnlyAlex said:I’m doing okay thanks, having a nightmare with Amazon. They told me to return a charger with a faulty Alexa device and now they’ve sent a new one out without a charger and told me I should have kept the old one! How are you and everyone else? Sending my best wishes to all.
Better than Dunhelm, my partner bought a dresser from them that had a missing part. She contacted them again and again for the missing part only to be completely ignored. They only responded after she put in a chargeback on the card transaction... They were very quick to reach out then. Never used them again2 -
I have heard of companies not picking stuff up because it's not worth it. Some often tell you to destroy the item or just keep it.
It might cost £49.99 to buy but their cost is maybe more like £10. The rest is R&D, shipping, wages and what not. So why bother picking up a £10 item just send out another one and they still have your £49.99.

@ada you deserve an easy day after the sleep issues you have had for the last few days.
Enjoy your dinner.
P.S. I know what you mean about knowing stuff word-for-word I listen to a radio show that I love because it helps me get to sleep, listened probably 100 times and know it off by heart ha ha1 -
I'm confused for a few years we had cards off a Samuel, after asking we were told it was man 2 doors down, do started sending cards and Samuel stopped. Now just had a card from Graham who lives in what I thought was Samuel's house. So Graham has had Samuel's cards and I'm still non wiser who Samuel is and he probably stopped thinking were ignorant.1
-
Evening all.
I haven't had a minute to myself all day.2 -
I don't eat meat @66Mustang,but if I did I wouldn't touch foie gras.2
-
Could it be that Samuel moved and now Graham lives there?1
-
No @Jimm_Scope Graham has lived there about 10 years bugging me now who Sam is1
-
I'm sorry to hear that @OnlyAlex. What's everyone up to I'm enjoying a glass of wine. I'm pleased I'm off those emergency meds so I can have 1 I don't like to drink when I'm on them.
