So glad I’ve found this forum! I had my first jab 8 weeks ago and have had a painful shoulder ever since and can’t raise my arm above shoulder height. I waited 2 weeks for a Call off the doctor for them to basically tell me it’s very common to have shoulder pain after an injection and pied me and said call back if it’s the same in 4 weeks.. I now have a physio appointment lined up who will hopefully listen and tell me whats happened. I felt the injection go in my shoulder quite painfully not like any other jab I’ve had before and was really high up my arm. It seemed that the guy giving my injection couldn’t find the right spot. I have my second jab on Friday which I’m really worried about as I don’t want it to make it worse / have the same person injecting me. I’ve been searching for weeks to find anyone else who has gone through the same thing as the pain in my arm was unbearable (I was screaming in pain at like 4am trying not to call an ambulance ?). Thanks to whoever created this group as it’s comforting knowing I’m not alone x1

Hi Everyone, Just found this as I've been searching how to get help and advice following my 1st Covid Vaccination on 11th January, ITS NOT THE VACCINATION ITS HOW IT WAS ADMINISTERED... SIRVA , Shoulder Injury Relted To Vaccination Administration... MY arm pain started the flowing day and I've been in pain and struggling ever since, I knew this was not ache I was in agony and still am as I now also have a very stiff frozen shoulder and pain down to my thumb and finger next to it ...Had to cut my hair as I just couldn't cope with the struggles, bought sports bras as that was a problem trying to do that which brought on pain ... 7 Months of this and just seen Muscoskelatol and been refered for ultrasound guided injection into my frozen shoulder... I think at least another 6 months waiting list ...I'm so drained this brings me to tears daily ...Any help or advice would be really good and to know if you know anybody going through this Many Thanks In Advance ?

Hello @Nissanjuke
Welcome to the community, good to see you join and I'm sorry that you are going through SIRVA. Firstly you should report your experience through the government Yellow card scheme, and if you want to read the experiences of others you can find this thread on the forum dedicated to SIRVA.1 -
Hi @Nissanjuke - & welcome to the community. As Ross mentions, & as you're aware, this isn't about the vaccine, rather mis-administration of the vaccine. I hope you will check the thread about SIRVA that Ross linked to. You mention a frozen shoulder, &, as a long-retired physio, this was so like the symptoms that those with SIRVA mentioned first mentioned on this forum, that I gave a link to something that may help in the meanwhile. Please see:'I have been recommending for people to try at home this gentle exercise, which may tide you over until you (hopefully) get appropriate treatment, which may well include physio:Stand & put the foot of your unaffected side slightly forwards so you have a comfortable base. Lean forwards, letting your affected arm hang. Now swing your arm backwards & forwards within your pain-free arc. Do this gently for a couple of minutes. Next try moving your hand in a comfortable circle first one way, then the other. Gravity thus helps aid movement, & you can increase the range as you progress, always moving your shoulder within your pain-free arc. Don't push through the pain as this just increases the pain cycle. Try this a little & often throughout your day.'

I too have experienced shoulder pain since my first Astra Zeneca vaccination. I had extreme arm pain for the first two weeks and swelling but since then (12 weeks ago) my shoulder is painful and I have limited movement. Lifting it is painful.
I get where everyone is coming from.

Hello @floribunda
Welcome to the community, good to see you join us
I'm sorry to hear that you have experienced shoulder pain since receiving your vaccine, have you reported this to your GP and the Yellow card reporting scheme?
It's worth noting that shoulder pain, and in particular SIRVA, can occur as a result of incorrect vaccine administration, and isn't necessarily anything to do with the vaccine itself.1 -
Hi and welcome to the community from me too1

Thank you both

Hi again @floribunda - I have been advocating a simple, gravity-assisted exercise, which some of our members have found helpful, so repeating here, hoping it may help you too.I'm a long-retired physiotherapist, & have been recommending for people to try at home this gentle exercise, which may tide you over until you (hopefully) get appropriate treatment, which may well include physio:Stand & put the foot of your unaffected side slightly forwards so you have a comfortable base. Try this a little & often throughout your day.

Just found this thread tonight while researching on behalf of my 78yr old dad, since getting his flu jab nearly a year ago he’s got an extremely painful arm and now since his second covid jab opposite arm very painful nearly unbearable I know it’s due to poor administration as at the time the nurse stopped promptly apologised and disappeared but quickly returned and gave injection, obviously she was using wrong size needle in first instance and wrong entry point, (flu jab) he’s now dreading this years flu jab and covid booster0

Hello Everyone
i have just joined this forum so very new to this.
my issue relates to the shoulder post injection.
I had my second Astra Zeneca jab at the end of May, all was fine until mid-July. Since then I’ve been experiencing pain in the arm and shoulder I had the jab in. Sometimes the pain is so severe lying in bed is unbearable. I am more than certain it relates to the injection I had. I had physio but even that hasn’t worked.
Anyone else experienced thi?

Hello @WilliamsJ
Welcome to the community, I hope you are well.
Sorry to hear about the symptoms you experienced following your vaccine, have you reported them on the Yellow card page?
Given that you had physio I assume that you have spoken about it with your GP? Since the physio didn't work for you have you been back to them to discuss alternate options? Shoulder pain can happen following any vaccine or injection and is a common side effect, however if it persists this can be as a result of incorrect vaccine administration rather than any fault with the vaccine itself.0
