Yes, I don't think the comments that Putin has had cancer have been verified by a particularly reliable source @lisathomas50. I'm aware there have been a number of rumours about his health, but I don't think anything has been confirmed.

My understanding is that there are some exceptions to the rule around men within that age range not being able to leave the country. According to Visit Ukraine:Exceptions: when a man can leave Ukraine under martial law
Exceptions to restrictions on departing Ukraine for the martial law period for men aged from 18 to 60 y.o.
For the period of martial law, male citizens of Ukraine aged from 18 to 60 y.o. are restricted on departing Ukraine.
However, according to the legislation, there are exceptions, in particular, individuals having:
- certificate of recruitment deferral and message on enrollment to special military registration, or
- conclusion of military and medical comission on ineligibility
In addition, the restriction does not refer to individuals who:
- maintain three or more children aged to 18 y.o., or
- raise alone a child (children) aged to 18 y.o., or
- maintain a child with disability.
And also to those, who is:
- an adopter
- a guardian, or
- whose immediate family members perished or disappeared during the antiterrorist operation. There have also been stories of non-national students being able to leave the country. See this article from The Guardian, for example.
There are of course lots of people who are unable to leave the country, for a number of reasons. I can't imagine how they must be feeling.
You can also read more about the fighting around the Chernobyl site on the Reuters website.

@Tori_Scope I did put alleged it has changed now to alleging mental health problems in my opinion any one who is doing whst putin is doing can't be in the right mind other wise it makes him a cold blooded murderer1

I have always had a terrible fear of a nuclear war since we we were shown a film of the after affects of a nuclear bomb being dropped when in school
Hopefuly it will stop before we get to that point we have still not heard anything from my cousin my family are still hopeing they are safe and well0 -
My opinion and thoughts tho only opinion is putin wantd to take over control of Ukraine and then all the other non nato countries that used to be controlled by Russia
If he used nuclear devices there would be nothing left of the place to take control of so that would defeat his objective0 -
It's been said in the news today that putin would allegely push the button to save him facing war crimes its been alleged he is paranoid and trusts no one
We have had the siren testing where we are quite scary realy there have been lots of different things being said
Let's hope we can prevent it from reaching the UK my thoughts are with London their fear must be horrendous
I have never wished for anyone to die or be killed but I pray that one of his own will have the bottle to kill him its the only way to stop him
The more putin is backed into a corner the more chance of a nuclear war he is already angry
It's horrible knowing thst putin has all our lives in his hands he isn't going to back down Ukraine isn't going to back down putin is threatening nuclear war he has the ultimate power the whole world is suffering one way or another
We are all liveing in fear we are all at risk we have nowhere to run to borris Johnson has already made putin angry along with other people saying things putin doesn't like there are only three endings as such one is putin is killed two Ukraine give in but maybe that won't stop him and the third is a nuclear war
For all of those who are belivers in God now is time to pray0 -
I didn’t think there were active sirens to test? Didn’t think they existed? Anyone confirm?0

woodbine said:Where we used to live 11 years ago there definitely was an active siren, but if there was a clear and present danger of nuclear attack we would get warnings probably by text. How would this actually be done ?Does the government have access to a mass txt sending app or similar ?0

I remember them testing the sirens regularly when I was a boy, but as people say they are long gone I think.
Its hard to watch an otherwise friendly nation being systematically destroyed and being unable to do anything about it. My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Ukraine, God help the innocent.1 -

If he used nuclear devices there would be nothing left of the place to take control of so that would defeat his objectiveBut is Putin insane enough to care - if he is threatened with nuclear annihilation - how would he react ?He has nothing more to lose - when this is over - his county is going to be a pariah with finances gone up the creekWould he timidly go back into his shell or would he just ignore the threat and decide "If I am to die - I'll take everyone else with me" ?Nobody can read the mind of a madman - worrying times indeedFor Putin - read Hitler in 1945 in his bunker, luckily for us, zonked out on happy drugs - but if he had the nuclear option - would he have used it ?0 -
I dare say Hitler would of used it 🤔 not sure with putin.0
-
They are/were both insane though

@lisathomas50 I think it's scary time for everyone, and it's clear you're feeling very anxious about it. Something which might help is taking a step back and maybe not engaging with the news or the rumours or the allegations for a while. If you focus too much on these it'll become very easy to jump to conclusions, and get yourself into even more of a worry.
It's sometimes good to take a break to look after our mental health. Please don't feel like you are in any trouble, but it's important to acknowledge that the last two paragraphs of your last comment might be potentially triggering, difficult or scary for other members to read.We have had the siren testing where we are quite scary realy there have been lots of different things being said
I wonder if you might be able to explain this a bit more for us. It's well known that sirens haven't been in use in this country for many years, the national siren system was dismantled in the 1990's. Additionally, I'm not sure what you mean by 'lots of different things', so I think it would help me not to jump to my own conclusions if you could explain that for me?1 -
@Wibbles, I think it’s far worse, Putin is sane. It seems he longs for a Russia which existed before the fall of the iron curtain and he sees Ukraine as part of that Russia. Times have changed for the rest of the world but he seems to be in a time warp, stuck in the fifties.1
-
I think (hope) that he won't go any further and try to a Nato nation

Russia is blaming Ukraine for attacking its own infrastructure including the nuclear power station.
Russia is trying to.block BBC in Russia
