    okay so a lot of us can't take to the streets to protest but anyone on LCWRA only can make a claim for PIP.

    Totally flood them ! (and it will mean people already receiving it will have review delays)

    Surely we are all ill/disabled.

    Thats why we rely on benefits.

    Thank you for thank . But I’m still so confused. I assumed I’ll go over to lcwra so what’s esa on uc ? Why is there two sickness benefits ? Yes I also thought that . It was even reported when the Tory’s planned to scrap wca and have just pip assessment ppl said the claims will go up . They tried saving money when it was DLA but by the time they paid Atos etc and claimant numbers have risen that idea failed as will this one

    I sincerely hope that happens because the fact the media wont mention there's still around 32 billion in Benefits people have not claimed.

    This is the warped thing about this, the UK pays some of the smallest amounts to disabled

    yet they face the most hostile measures to get the money. Even those not in the LCWRA can make a claim as its a totally separate payment at the moment.

    I was always told told old style contributory ESA would not migrate, has this now changed with today's announcement?

    So as it stands right now.

    People who currently on ESA who get the invite over to UC will not be worst off

    if moving over makes that person worst off then the transitional protection kicks in

    This is very important DO NOT apply for UC until you are invited as doing so before means you lose that protection of not being worst off. This is the shambles with my brother

    because of the complex family setup they openly admit they have no idea how to proceed.

    You're welcome. I'm planning to create a range of short advice booklets about a range of things but with a special focus on disabilitiesa and illness. I'm hoping to have a few booklets and trial versions I could perhaps post here when they're done. Between myself and my family I think we've covered every single major scenario people can go through in their lifetimes!

    Do you actually have PIP right now, or is it UC/ESA? If you haven't got PIP I would still try to apply for it, the extra money will make a difference, I put it towards counselling amoung other things totry to keep my mental health sort-of OK.

    With counselling I completely understand. My counsellor was orginally a trainee and I get a discount due to being on PIP that she offered. There's some registers you can look through where people offer discounted rates of £20-£30 (or pos lower) - but I know even that can be challenging for people. I could link some options if that helps?

    I don’t get SDP so I’ll be better off anyway but I’m confused as to what is esa on uc ? Why do some get lcwra and some get esa uc ? Why are there so many different benefits. CAB etc are going to need training again for all the new plans

    contribution-based Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), also known as New Style ESA, is not affected by the move to Universal Credit and will continue to be paid separately. 

    Sorry long day, So that part of ESA remains the same.

    So the migration is for people on income related ESA to UC

    and reeves wants the final migration letters out by Dec 2025 so by 2026 that part is closed.

    I think I'm on old style contributory ESA, is that a thing? It was before UC came in. Will this not be migrated either?

    Spot on. It's a bit weird to have mass media discuss whether one is a scrounger or not. It seems for existent claimants any actions will be delayed, and for many they can actually sleep and get on with their lives, at least in the short term, if the interpretations are correct. This is an example of how weird our society is. The government does have a 'behavioural science' unit , and I question whether this negative onslaught is to put people off claiming benefits. If that is the case, then it's severely at the detriment of people's mental health. I'd be surprised if over recent days there hasn't been a single suicide due to all this.

    I think the part where you mentioned the £775 might be wrong or am misunderstanding what you put or am I just wrong in general lol! I assumed she said that £755 would be the extra "annual" amount by 2029 not the weeky? I know you didn't mention weekly but it reads as if thats what you meant? I'm sorry If I've misunderstood what you put.

    You put:-

    "Standard UC is supposed to rise to £775 by 2029 which is 👍 It has been shameful the way people were given less than they could possibly live on."

    This was mentioned (I think)

    "April 2026-27 the standard allowance rate for over 25's will rise by £7 a week taking it from £91 per week to £98 per week. This will cover both existing and new claims for Universal Credit. They will then continue to rise until 2029-30. According to Kendall, this will equate to an extra £775 by 2029-30."

    If this is correct the £755 figure doesn't seem to make any sense to me? She says by 2029/30 it will be worth an extra £755 annually? If you add £7 per week for those 4 years it equals an extra £1456 annually?

    Year 1 - 2026/27 £7 pw

    Year 2 - 2027/28 £14 pw (years 1+2)

    Year 3 - 2028/29 £21 pw (years 1+2+3)

    Year 4 - 2029/30 £28 pw (years 1+2+3+4)

    £28 x 52 weeks = £1456 annual extra

    I need someone to try to explain this lol, maybe @apple85 could?

    I listened to Noah nyle on YouTube. He mentioned that they said they’re looking into protection for pip who don’t have pop but are on lcwra. I’m sure I got that right but it’s worth watching the video.
