I'm sorry this is not very uplifting (very low/upset). Does anybody try to improve their situation but then mental health takes a big hit when it doesn't work?
I have not been out (socially) since Dec 2019. An ex- colleague/friend invited me to her house tonight which I was so excited to go. I cancelled her last night for a few reasons.
One, I found out she hasn't got a downstairs loo and I can't get upstairs but thought maybe I could go up and down on my backside but it's an old property so don't know if I could do that safely or quickly enough.
Two, I've got to get a cab which although only c 3 miles away is 22.00 (equivalent to my food money for a week) and I've no 'spare' money so will come off my bills.
Finally... .(Sorry) my scaffolding should have been took down on Monday, but hasn't been, can't get them to tell me when, and can't leave my dogs when it's done, they work till 5pm ish some days and my friend wants me to get their for 445pm and leave at 9pm.
That's It.
Wasn't sure to post once I read this back. The patheticness of it. But that's my life. But I have just laughed at myself as I've just realised The Apprentice is on at 9pm so at least I can watch that, silver lining and all that. It just saddens me to get the opportunity to do what is 'normal' life, and I feel like I self sabotage it but my reasons are genuine.
I'm sorry, guess I'm just venting but it's difficult when in my head, I have 'great' plans to restore my life to some normality but then the reality hits and it's just that, why I have difficulty accepting/adjusting to my situation.
I hope everyone has a good day, I'll get over it it's hardly earth shattering in the scheme of things so I'll get some perspective, hopefully today. Thanks for reading and apologies for being glum. Take good care everybody β€οΈ

Hi @Santosha12 I am sorry you were not able to go to your friends house last night, and completely understand your reasons.
When we make an arrangement we really hope and tell ourselves we are able to do it because we want to but actually doing it is something else.
I hope your friend was understanding of your reasons.
Could you perhaps have her visit you sometime?
Try not to feel too down about it, it just was not the right time for you.
Take care.

Thank you very much Bluebell21, 'just not the right time for me' is helpful and I'm now thinking, Just for today, don't worry.
She was a bit curt tbh I gave notice as should have been tonight I go, I don't think she likes leaving her cat or partner, I'd suggested them coming here (not the cat π€£π€£ my dogs wouldn't be keen and there's a little cat that peers through my living room window, just sits there staring in which really annoys one of my dogs but she's a very cute cat βΊοΈ) she didn't commit or seem keen. Don't think she wants to pay for a cab and she likes a drink whereas I don't drink.
I know it doesn't sound very charitable (of me) but I have generally found people are understanding until it affects them then they're much less so. I'm going to just sit and hope that my scaffolding gets removed today and if not, my dogs can enjoy the garden and I might go back to my book while my eyes are good π₯Ήπ .
Thanks again for your reply I appreciate it and helps my perspective on it all. There's a lot of things to get depressed about and this is down the list really π π

I used to do everything for people especially one friend babysit her kids the lot I could never say no so I was used alot so it's good you can say no its just feeling guilty afterwards how we feel so bad now I don't do noting for people I have no problem putting myself first and if I'm having a bad day and can't make it somewhere I won't go your needs come first and your beautiful furbabies

Hi @Santosha12 It does not sound uncharitable of you to say that people are only understanding until it affects them. It certainly sounds as if she is not prepared to put herself out for you, just expects you too.
Perhaps just leave things for now as apart for the scaffolding which fingers crossed will be removed today your other reasons for not going remain.
Try and enjoy your day and I hope your dogs have a good run around in the garden.
Take care.

Good morning all.
The sun is shining today and I am going to have a day out at a place that sounds lovely and I have never been to before on the north Cornish coast.
I am going to take a picnic in my little vintage wicker basket.
I hope you all manage to have as good a day as you can.

@Catherine21 and @Bluebell21 thank you both so much, I'm going to leave it/not rearrange for now I don't want to fall out with her, scaffolders are supposed to be coming today 'to start' on removing mine ππ¬ whatever that means (I'd do it myself if i could get up there, need to learn to have some patience π€). I'll keep a look out so muttlets can go in the garden I've put their tunnel out which they love π€£ have a lovely day @luvpink you've given me an idea to have a picnic in the garden maybe over Easter the dogs would like that with their chicken and cheese π have a great day exploring the north coast, I'll bet it's a very beautiful part of the country and take care everyone too x
