Advice on dating or making friends as a disabled person in the UK?
Hi everyone,
I'm new here and based in London. I have [your disability if you want to share, e.g., cerebral palsy / mobility issues / etc.], and I've found it really hard to meet people for friendship or dating. Mainstream apps feel tricky because of judgments or accessibility stuff.
Has anyone had success with online dating sites/apps aimed at disabled people, or ways to meet others locally? Or just general tips on building confidence and putting yourself out there?
Would love to hear your experiences β good or bad! Thanks π

Hi, there are lots of threads on this subject already if you browse through this section (Relationships).

Hi @KailaDrill, welcome to the community. It can be tough dating as a disabled person, but I've heard lots of people say it really filters out the bad ones sometimes!
A few members have said they find it easier to join in with hobby groups and see who they find there, but I know it can be equally as difficult to find accessible places to go. Do you have any interests that you could find groups for?
I'm afraid I don't have much experience with the apps or websites but I hope some of our members might be able to share some ideas. If you'd like to take a look through our past Relationships posts you can follow this link: Relationships category

I tried dating sites or apps and Facebook groups but sadly I had no luck. Once they knew I didn't drive. Have my own place, job they weren't interested, but I noticed that the ones who rejected kept breaking up from there relationships and coming back on Facebook groups

That's what I'd like as well.

Sorry you had no luck on the websites @BingeWhisker, it's tough out there! I'm sure most people would like someone to share life with and it can be hard to find someone when they reject you over superficial things like that.
Are there any hobby groups near you that you could join to meet people? Sometimes it's easier to meet people doing something you like doing than being on the apps and websites. I hope someone special comes along for you soon.
