Ah there's no comprehending some people's logic but then we spray crops with pesticides to stop the insects eating them and then eat it ourselves

This is very true, and i suppose it nicely complements all the microplatics inside us. 😉

I have never liked heat, but the heatwave in June was something else.

My part of the country I had 5 nights in a row over 20C despite the news saying was less.

17C here in Angus still, just checked and Lerwick, Shetland Islands, they have 14C. What a contrast with some of you in the south.

It was 27 degrees in our house last night, I would love 17! I'm in Yorkshire so I can't imagine how awful people have it in the South.

My wee house was much warmer than the outside temperature, what with it being built in 2015. The handful of warm days soon pass, I will be glad of the insulation soon enough.

My flat hasn't dropped below 30c for several weeks now. We're not even half way through summer yet. 😕

In the winter it's freezing cold and draughty. There are only about 2 weeks in spring and autumn that are a comfortable temperature. 🙄

How are you keeping cool @OverlyAnxious? Have you looked into ways to winter-proof your flat?

    Cooler today at 21 degrees.

It may heat up later like it did yesterday.

One of the reasons I left my HA Flat last year was that the Boiler broke about 3 times in the space of 6 weeks, because they allegedly "repaired" it then the flippin' thing broke again.

I wouldn't mind but I was paying a premium for urgent repairs!

I'm not. Just had to accept this is how it'll be for the foreseeable future. Nothing I can do about it. Losing calories/weight and can't even get out for a walk anymore, the damage has already been done.

Can't really do anything about winter either. Last year I went through a huge amount of hassle and stress having heating changed in the hope of a more comfortable winter. Wrote down exactly what I needed and the way in which the work could least impact my health. All completely ignored, or possibly purposely contravened? Ended up with one heater I can't use at all, and another one that costs a huge amount to run and doesn't keep that room at an even temp. So I'm left with even worse heating than before all the work was done. The windows and doors are all draughty as well as gaps around walls and floors. Not allowed to touch the fire door, and the others all need replacing really, twisted and bent. I tried some cheap stick-on draught excluder but it didn't work. So again a lot of hassle for no benefit. Sooner I go, the better!

Oh @OverlyAnxious it's not nice to hear you say that. Do you have anyone to advocate for you to try and get the issues resolved? Here's some information which might be useful https://www.scope.org.uk/advice-and-support/get-help-from-an-advocate I'm sorry if this is information you've had before.

I know you're not looking for suggestions but I hope that you're able to have some relief from the heat.

I am not going through any more work being done at this flat. Too much damage was caused to my health last year, and the end result is that I'm left with a flat which doesn't allow for any recovery or improvement. Things can only get worse the longer I'm here.

The person that advocates for me oversaw the work being done while I used temporary accommodation nearby (at great cost to myself). For reasons that I still do not understand, they actively encouraged the work to be done in ways that would not benefit me. And frequently then tried to 'persuade' me that I was wrong about my own needs for both health and property.

It's a very difficult situation because I do believe that they want to help. However they also want to decide what that help looks like. And unfortunately that's based on their own needs, wants and abilities, rather than mine.

I understand that @OverlyAnxious, especially with the experience you've had. It's a shame the advocate didn't consider your needs as that's the whole reason that they're there.

Have you spoken to your Dr about your condition if it's worsening?

    Its reached 31 degrees here.

Its extremely busy with holiday makers.

I've come home for a rest and a bite to eat before I venture out again later.

Making the most of it while it lasts.

The last Dr I was in contact with caused my conditions to worsen, and didn't offer any assistance at all when I was losing my independence, and losing the ability to drive. Just covered his a*se by suggesting that maybe I shouldn't drive anymore, then left to enjoy his retirement…

I haven't had any direct contact with the new one. He's actually one that I was moved to around 8 years ago when the first one left. He didn't understand my conditions, put through a traumatic event at the surgery, and then lost me my ESA a few months later because he wouldn't sign off the forms as a result of his…ignorance?

My advocate spoke to him once…and of course pushed their agenda instead of mine. I'm now trapped on a medication that I wish I'd never started taking, and obviously I can't even get to the pharmacy, so that's more hassle I have to ask someone else to collect each time. (Can't be posted as it's liquid).

The health services just aren't built for people like me. Same with benefits services and indeed the rest of society.

I now can't cope with contacting anyone directly at all, not even by email. So I'm basically at the mercy of whatever damage my advocate and the rest of society choose to cause now. I can't even access bread or clean underwear myself anymore so it's not like I have any choice in this. I just wish I'd gone 7 years ago while I still had some independence and dignity and quality of life left.
