World Cerebral Palsy Day: what’s one thing you would change?
Hi everyone,
World Cerebral Palsy Day is on 6 October. This year’s campaign invites people to share the change they want to see, starting with the words “My change is…”
We’d love to hear what that means to you.
Your change might be better access to support as an adult, somewhere accessible to spend time with friends, or people giving you time to communicate without making assumptions.
It could be something that affects your daily routine, or a wider change you’ve wanted for years. You do not need to have a solution worked out to talk about what needs to improve.
At Scope’s Cerebral Palsy Network, we believe people’s experiences should shape the support, services and decisions that affect their lives.
If you’d like to join the conversation, finish this sentence in the comments below:
“My change is…”
What difference would that change make to you?
People with cerebral palsy, parents, carers, friends and allies are all welcome to contribute. If you’re supporting someone else’s call for change, let their wishes lead the way.
You can take part right here — there’s no need to post on social media. Share only what you feel comfortable sharing, and keep personal details private.
We look forward to hearing what matters to you.

Okay, I'll go first.
My change is that the Department of Health realises that children with Cerebral Palsy grow up to be adults with cerebral palsy. We must remove the cliff edge of support after 16.

There are hidden aspects to living with cerebral palsy. Many people have co-existing conditions which adds another layer of complexity to the disability. We are all unique and require a holistic approach to our care, education and employment.

This is more of a personal thing, to have more understanding around the fact that having mild CP still comes with its own challenges.

Thank you for sharing that with us. It is exactly the type of experience we need people to be aware of. Mild cerebral palsy is not no cerebral palsy. So important for people to realise.2 -
My change is better training for medical professionals, so families are informed as to how their child's cerebral palsy can change throughout their life
