HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED LONG WAITING LISTS OR BATTLED FOR SEN SUPPORT SERVICES?

I am currently collecting data for my MSc Psychology dissertation module. If you are a mother of a child with developmental delay aged 1-7 years, please consider contributing to my research on the impact of delayed early intervention on parents self-efficacy. If you know of a mother of a child with a developmental delay please share the below link.

PLEASE COMPLETE BY 10-15 MINUTE SURVEY!https://blss.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3VQ59WxcNMdtHgx

Long waiting lists are often a barrier to SEN support services for assessment, treatment and/or diagnosis. My research will examine the experience of mothers, who often become their child's main early interventionist. I essentially want to understand what it is like for a parent during this waiting period and through this research, to provide a clearer narrative of the parent's voice in special educational needs advocacy.

I will also be completing a series of interviews with parents and you can contact me at kerry.murphy3@mail.bcu.ac.uk if you are interested.

Thank you! I am a bit panicked as my uptake on the survey is very low but it's such a crucial subject!

I have re-posted in the recommended section and thank you for your good wishes.

    Kind Regards

    Kerry

    I have done the survey.
The problem in the UK is ignorant and incompetent so called support professionals who are years out of date regarding understanding the real issues and failing to provide any real support.

Thank you so much for completing the survey! I am sorry to hear this has been your experience.

My aim is to provide a greater voice for parents who are often not listened to or taken seriously.

Sadly, the uptake for this survey has been incredibly low which is disappointing as I have shared with so many parent groups. If you know of any other parents who could complete it, I would be very grateful.

I am also conducting a series of interviews, so please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to share your experience! My email is kerry.murphy3@mail.bcu.ac.uk

    Kind Regards

    Kerry

All of my family have a clinical diagnosis of having some form of the 4 Types of Auditory processing Disorders, which are totally ignored by the so called support professionals especially those in the education system.
The temporal type of auditory processing disorder is the main underlying cause of he developmental dyslexia symptom, what the dyslexia industry call a phonological processing deficit.
Another problem is speech and language who do not want to understand that Specific Language Impairment (SLI) now being marketed as Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is also part of auditory processing disorders.
This all about so called support professionals massaging their egos and income, and failing to understand and provide the required support and understanding.
And then there are the incompetent audiologists who only want  to sell hearing aids.

It happens to families like ours all the time. We waited several weeks to acquire braces for Little Man. We also spent several hours and days trying to access therapy for him too. Same thing applies to many of our hospital appointments with doctors.

Thank you for completing the survey! I am up to 11 responses and I need at least 100.

I am grateful that you have taken time to share your experiences and confirms why this research is so important. There is virtually no research on the impact of the delays to access services and so it needs to be flagged up for things to change.

Please keep sharing and hopefully, I will meet the quota to include the data in the analysis.

    Kind Regards

    Kerry

Good morning @SENspecialist, unfortunately the only section where survey links and email addresses are allowed on the forum is Events, research and opportunities board. Due to this I have had to remove your reposts. I have added your post onto the unanswered section of the forum and I hope this will allow more member to see it. :)
