Just curious whether they consider Mental health a disability. Eg The government? Only curious. Apologies for intruding.

Autism is classed as a lifelong neurological developmental disability yes. And mental health issues are classed as disabilities if they have a long term effect on your normal day to day activity.

@Strawberry1 of course you're not intruding

How about this for an idea? When any of us feels a bit wound up about things we could imagine ourselves in Catherine's lovely cottage.

This terrifies me. I try not to read anything about being forced into work. This is how my mind works. I can't go out to work. I've been housebound for 35 years now. I can get into my garden but can't get past my gate. If they force me to work, I can't get out there. Which means they'll stop my benefits. Which means I can't pay my rent. Which means I'll be evicted. And the thought of being homeless after 35 years of being unable to leave my home absolutely terrifies me.

I know we're probably all jumping the gun but I read something a while back where they said they were stopping giving PIP to those with mental health issues and that terrified me too, thinking I would have to 'sign on' (do they still do that?) and I can't get to a dole office, which again means my benefits will stop…can't pay my rent…etc etc. Then there's my husband who's my full time carer. He's over 50 and if he's forced to find work, that leaves me on my own with nobody to look after me, which is something else that scares me. I hate being the way I am but I can't change anything even after all these years. I feel like I'm being punished all over again for being disabled.

1 the flat where I am and I’m now being evicted although I do have my benefits I can’t find anywhere else to live so the threat is real than my book. to my MP asking what the government is going to do about the current homelessness and eviction crisis because disabled people should have a secure place to live and we don’t, I want to work but I can’t focus right now. Stress levels are through the roof so I’m short tempered. The doctor stresses affecting me and she completely ruled me and sent me for Physiotherapy and suggested social prescribing which I absolutely detest because the people are not my gender orientation and neither are they Disabled friendly. There isn’t a proper service for people like ourselves and that is part of the problem and the Housing that’s available is totally unsuitable.

it should say I wrote to my MP about the current housing crisis because the government is not doing anything concrete to alleviate it and for someone like myself I haven’t been able to find suitable housing for over 10 years!

I need PIP to pay my rent contribution which includes the bedroom tax. I won't move because the 1 bed places in my housing association are almost all pet-free due to shared entrances and very few have access to an outside space which would mean I'd be stuck behind closed doors almost 24/7. Also after 16 years this house is my home, it's the one place in the world I feel safe (ish).

If they take PIP off me then I'll be left with the prospect of losing my home, which at my age would probably be unsurviveable.
